maybe getting rid of some the waste? hell put that with consumption tax and you can get rid of 90% of the IRS, there ya go!
If you get rid of the waste, there was no need for the tax in the first place....

So you get rid of the IRS and now hire a bunch of people to patrol businesses to ensure they are adequately collecting the tax?

personally I would rather consumption tax.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif everyone pays that way, and to the level they spend, not what they can find loopholes to get out of;) It also encourages savings of excess income.
How does everyone not pay with the flat tax act? I'm not being a smart ***, just trying to understand the flaws of the act. The flat tax would eliminate the F.I. tax, social security, property tax etc. ultimately eliminating the IRS which would be billions saved each year. Set the tax at 10%. It would be applied to food, cars, clothes etc. Also at the same time it would be taxing the major corporations that are holding the economy hostage. Having them pay the 10% tax on their neccessary equiptment to run their business would keep them in tact.

And they are very regressive, unless there are adequate pre-bates in place.

Problem is, if you encourage saving vis a viz buying...wouldn't that cut down on employment? I can pump a trillion bucks of investment into companies that make widgets, but if no one is buying anything, I am not going to sell one damn widget....thus, unemployment line for those who make widgets.

we love our widgets, just like we love our trucks, Americans are not going to drive smart cars, and we are not going to stop buying widgets.

But isn't the point of the regressive tax to encourage savings? So, if you did want the plan encourages...it wouldn't work. And if people don't do what is rational, it will work...

Or people go to the barter system in local communities...which is what will happen.

do you all realize how few people control all of the money? Why would we want to continue this control. I think we should let it be and watch them burn. Yes it will **** for a couple of years but the end result will be much better than a quick fix to restore order that will eventually fail again.

wtf are you talking about?

correct me if I am wrong, but the flat tax does so off of income, and after the income is made, therefore it only taxes those who report! correct? and it is done quarterly, semi anually or anually. So the Drug dealers, bartenders, carpenters and illegals that get paid cash typically won't put into the system.

With consumption, the tax is collected at the point of sale, and can be deposited to the government at the same time. There is no paperwork to do. The drugdealer that buys a $120,000.00 AMG G500 will pay his share also.

Did I clarify that or make it worse?

Or the drug dealer can swap a AMG G500 for a pound of heroine or whatever is $120k worth of drugs and no one pays the tax.

I think your are over-reacting, one of the benifits is savings, the main purpose is to get all to contrubute, not just the middle class, the rich will lose the loop holes and the people that don't pay but benefit from the system will be contributing.

40% of the people currently do not pay taxes...

YOu get the point. he isn't going to go into Benz dealership and pay with a pound.
What is going to stop him? It doesn't have to be drugs, but trades? Hell, you are in construction...how about installing a patio/garden/or whatever it is you do (not being a smartass, I really don't know) in exchange for a car?

I was meaning the poor, not the rich.
