please help

this will be my first installation of any sort. I want to put sum neons in my car... but where do these wires go???

i understand everything up until the wiring to the battery part. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i dont think the wires are suppose to run directly to the battery... or are they? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

any help will be VERY much appreciated...

thank you

well im gonna run maybe 2 36" neon tubes in the car... not gonna be on all the time..

just when im cruisin at night.

can anybody help... im jus not wuite sure how to run the wires to the power source.

do i run it DIRECTLY to the battery? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

You would run the NEGative to a ground. The posative wire you would run to a switch so that you could control whether the lights are on or off. You would then connect +12Volt to the other terminal on the switch, ignition, battery your choice

ok... so ground the negative (black) and positive goes to switch...

i think i got it

IF you run it directly form the battery to a switch, fuse it as close to the batt as possible....or connect it up to the remote turn on and get whatever relays you need to power it. im not too sure as to what amp fuse...so...yea. -scott

Check the fuses

Anything with ballasts or motors needs more power to start up than it does to keep running. With motors sometimes 2X as much power.

Neon lights have ballasts that turn the 12-volt in your car into about 10,000volts.

when you fire up your neon lights. If when running they draw a total of say 10 amps, then I would use at least a 15 amp fuse, thius will allow for a surge of power when the ligts first turn on

can sumone please explain to me this fuse scenario...

how would i go bout changing it or whatever needs to be done...

please... i know its a stupid question but.. this is my first actual install of any sort

any help is very much appreciated

Originally posted by shrinkydinx the fuse would be on the red wire, between the battery and the switch, in some sort of fuse holder. go to track auto and buy a similar fuse and replace it, if it looks blown. if it is blown, the metal inside the fuse will be broken.
Hey! Jackass! Fuses do not always LOOK blown even tho they are.
