Playing Lossless Files from a Hard Drive

I was wondering if anyone knows how to play lossless files from a hard drive connected to a headunit. I don't want to play lossless files from my ipod mainly due to the fact how much sound quality is lost. I burned the same song to a cd at 1411kbps and tried playing the song from my ipod and the cd sounded so much better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif ....no comparsion you could hear all the details. The reason the songs don't sound that good from an ipod even though its the same file is because the song has to go through the ipod's dac which is small and it sucks!

As of right now my headunit only supports MP3, AAC, WMA files to play from a hard drive. To be exact WMA & AAC are lossy not lossless. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

IIRC, my fiancee's Clarion DXZ785USB supports both WAV and Apple Lossless from the hard/thumb drive plugged into the USB port. Besides the fact that I can't stand the looks of the HU, it actually has some pretty good features for the $130 it cost me!
