theyre pricey, and wont come close to producing their advertised power. If you dont want to spend much money, try to find a used amplifier that does about 400 watts RMS at 2 ohms. 200 per sub will get them moving pretty well. But personally, I would spend $50 more and get exactly what you need rather than something that will just "work."

Not really. Its a good quality, underrated amplifier. That boss will never dream of pushing out a true 800 watts RMS, if anything it will put out about the same power as the Viper, and its not even 1 ohm stable. Plus the viper is cheaper.

The viper will also put out a cleaner signal.

mb7 what would you compare your subs with?

my buddy has some kicker comp vr's and they sound pretty good IMO, and these pioneers are supposed to be comparable to them right? im just used to the idea that any good woofer that gets loud is supposed to be DVC

I havent heard anyother woofers besides my old xplod's (round ones) and some p5's. I did hear some planet audio big bangs hooked up to a lanzar 2500 watt amp. Compared to the sonys, They hit the lows much better, Hit harder, and the SQ is much better. And are much louder.

But I would still get the DVC version for more flexible wiring configurations.
