Still getting them tweaked, but the reviews deffinitely hit these spot on... They sound wonderful with plenty of midbass, the tweeters are crisp but never harsh, just warm and natural. They perform really well off axis, and just like others have mentioned, the only down fall is the crossover. Its not that bad, just mediocre IMO:crap:

I have the gain set at the speakers RMS, which is only like a 1/5 of a turn on the amp, and these get really loud for me with the volume at 2/3 up. Still playing with the crossover point and equilizer, there was an area kinda in the mid to upper end of the male vocal that was coming off harsh, but after tweaking the HU settings that has gone away.

I don't know what can beat them for $250

I still need to make some panels to fill in the large openings.

Speaker kit, have about two layers of damp pro behind the speakers.

My beautiful spacers:laugh: , used two per side for ~1.25" of spacing...just barley cleared the window...

Home made rain guards to help protect the part of the speaker that is in the door. What ever works and was completely free

Here is the finished product, I forgot to get some pics of my "amp rack" before I put the rear seat back in...

I really was stuck with mounting the crossover there... There wasn't any good choices under the door panel and I didn't feel like changing my wiring around, I'm leaning towards making some fiberglass door pods any ways, and going with an active setup... Should have got the 4 channel amp

I'm looking at the 720s, but I'm having a hard time finding info on the tweets. What size hole do they need to mount and what is the OD of the complete tweet?

the mounting depth is less than an inch, and the diameter is 1 7/8"

but imo, any 'bling' a thief can see will bring trouble for you.

id hide the 'bling' x overs and paint the 'bling' tweet with a lil black paint.

or at least cover them with some grey grill cloth or something.

Yeah... I really need tint which will help some. The crossovers are hidden now though, its really sad that someone would break in and only steal the crossovers

Not to steal the crossovers but steal what they can grab quickly. It like a sign I guess.

I had my car broken into most likely because I had some infinity kappas for rear fill. They left them alone and tried to steal my CD player. Made off with my CDs, XM radio adapter, and my ATM card

I didn't like any of the focals within this price range, in fact the only focals that I liked were like $600 at a local shop... Can't remember the exact model, but the lower ones just didn't have the sharp midbass that the pioneers have IMO.

I was seriously looking at BA pro60's, since they were "close" to the price of the pioneers, and they sounded good... In fact IMO they were the only set that I heard that performed at the same level of the pioneers, but the extra $$$ knocked them out.

I wish I could have heard some CDT's and Rainbows, but I don't know anyone with those, so I was kinda limited.... Wish I could compare them to more but I don't have access to or the money to try a lot of sets lol:laugh:

Its worlds of improvement over stock speakers, and they perform great for what they are, but a sub is really needed to handle the lows. Could I live with my setup as it is without a sub, absolutely but I would like a little more power there, and let the components handle what they do best. That said these will make you feel a bass drum hit etc if you turn it up, and they haven't lost any composure with what I've thrown at them
