I am somewhat of a newbie to the technical side of car audio i know the basics wiring ohms law etc... but I am looking to better eduacate myself on fine tuning for SQ. I just finished installing a double Din Pioneer AVIC x930bt Navi HU. the reason i did this is because i was originally running a Pioneer BEH P3000ib HU into a Interfire EF700 EQ. i had great high's and Mids but i could never get my subs to sound right i adjusted the the gain controls on the amp and EQ also ran my HU flat and tuned everything from the EQ. My SQ from what i could remember was better prior to changing my HU and installing the EQ so i figured i would eliminate the EQ and go with the double din. after installing the new HU i noticed my highs and mids were still good after tuning but i cant seem to get the same power to my subs i used to only be able to turn my gain control about 1/4 up on the amp before the subs started to clip and i would back it off. with the new HU i can turn the gain all the way up and doesnt seem to hit as hard as before. i know both my HU's were 2volt out on the RCA's but i am not sure if the EQ was 2 or 4 volt this may have something to do with it. I have a Boss CH1200M mono block amplifier and two Kicker CVR 12's 4 ohm DVC wired at 2 ohms in a ported enclosure. I know the Boss is junk but it was a freebie and works ok for now however i am looking to upgrade amplifer and Subs thinking about a FI and hifonics combo but suggestions are appreciated. thanks
