Pioneer Head Units

I'm just wondering if anybody else has experienced problems with pioneer's head units. I have a DEH-P960MP that I bought second-hand thankfully, and it will not eject cd's when warm. When I first start the truck, it will barely push them out. After playing for longer than 10 minutes, it will not eject unless I push down on the cd's with something, usually my knife that I keep on me at all times. One of my friends just bought a DEH-77MP and his is very, very slow pushing the cds out. And it has slowed down over time, since he bought it just 2 months ago, this is starting to alarm him. I thought of adding a changer, but have heard mixed reviews about pioneers changers. Have any of you experienced this? What do you think I should do?

Edit: I'll be buying a pioneer premiere 6 disc changer unless there is a better one or nobody recommends changers. I don't mind it because I'll put in under my drivers seat in a reg. cab. truck.

I'm surprised that you had a problem with the CD mechanism on that deck rather then the ribbon cable... 90% of those that fail are from ribbons. Want to sell it? lol if not probably your best bet is a changer, and you would have no problems with a changer I've seen some Pioneer changers going strong after a good 8 or 9 years

mine does too sometimes, but i figured it was the disk,i've had some problems with different cd-r disks, but the ones i've been using lately i havent had any problems with, other than that the ribbon went bad,but thats about it

yeah, i had mine in about 2 months ago to fix the ribbon and they supposedly fixed the ejection mechanism at the same time. went back to sh** in about 2 weeks. Gonna get a premiere cd changer. Thanks guys

I am still using my PIONEER PREMIER DEX-P88 HI VOLT UNIT THAT I BOUGHT NEW BACK IN 1996... NEVER HAD ONE PROBLEM WITH IT.... PREMIER IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO IN MY OPINION... BUT I ALSO RUN A PREMIER CDX-P2000 CHANGER WITH IT SO THAT MAY AFFECT IT SOME... I THINK IT WILL BE FINE FOR YOU THOUGH...

The only problem with using a changer (which I do myself) is that you're bypassing the burr-brown converters on your 960.

Are these store bought cds that won't eject?? I had a couple of cdrs that I burned that I used some Neatos CD lables on and I guess the paper on those were too thick and I had a hell of a time getting it to eject. Other than that my 860 ejects cds just fine.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yeah, doesn't matter if it's a cd-r or original, still get stuck. I think I can live without the burr-brown d/a conversion for now as my speakers aren't real great and I doubt I'd notice the difference. The biggest thing in my mind is the equalizer as that seemed to make the largest difference in my mind over a cheaper HU.
