Testing a HU without a Faceplate, possible?

I have an older model HU that i bought with my car. Faceplates are hard to come by since its an older model (Pioneer DEH-P7000R) but i could get one for much less than a new HU. I dont want to buy one unless i can test it however, because if it dosent work, it will be awaste of $80.

From what i hear, this was a great HU, and i think its work the $80 if i know its working. Im thinking a new HU that would be equal to this one would cost me at least $200.

So is there any way to test it?

Do you think its even worth it?

No way to turn it on without the faceplate...

does it have any lights without the faceplate, if so just the neg and pos wires to your batt and see if they light up, or it might make a sound when its powering up

nope, nothing. looks like im just gonna buy a new HU all together then.

$200 should get you a **** good HU mine was only 160 and i love it, that was about a year ago tho.

theres actually a Faceplate for my HU on ebay right now, starting bid is only $35, and i havent seen to many bidders for these, so hopefully i can get it for under 60 shipped.

its worth a try, and if not i can always put it up on ebay again, hope to get some of that $ back...

there is a way to turn on the HU w/out faceplate!

theres a small button that could be pressed...

this button is pressed when the faceplate is on, but u can push it with your finger, im not sure if u know what i mean.. but i do it sometimes when i want to take a cd out of the HU w/out pussing the faceplate on...
