The Sony is a nice unit... my guess is your tuning needs some adjusting if you arnt liking the way it sounds.

Go to your audio settings. Take note of what each is set at. Change one at a time. Max then low or whatever. Listen to what it each sertting changes. Build an understanding of what changes improve sounds on your setup. Mess around with it for a couple weeks. See if you can better tune it to your liking.

I have the MEX100BT running jbl 608c speakers in the front and I love it. I would recommend it to anyone. and basic time alignment and eq work good for me, really big improvement over a stock radio.

I agree if your not going to utilize everything the 80prs has to offer, then get the Sony.
