pioneer 80prs ? and alpine 9887 ?

im just trying to figure out what best for me. if i was to get the 80prs i have no problem doing that wire think as it would make it easier to replace. the only problem is i would void my warranty .

yup 3 way is for front stage only it would screw you on the rear fill. If you need rear fill, i'd recommend going active on your amp.

wow im glade i asked. was not thinking about my rear speakers.

how do you set you crossovers on your amps?

i know you said you use test tones. do you play a tone then tune until you dont hear it ?

why would you even need to touch it in the first place?

I use audacity generate several tones and save it on a usb. tones like 3500hz 3600hz all the way to 8k hz. I pick what I want to set it as, play the note then turn the crossover on the amps until it cuts off then go back until its playing at a good volume again. Should land you in the proper ballpark of your chosen crossover point give or take 50 hz.

is there a way i can only play say from ( 65hz to 150hz ) ? im asking this for my 8" that i want to get. as that were i would like them to play.

i know you can set high side or low side on an amp.

just trying to figure how would i set my amps up for 3way. to get the sound i want from each type of speakers.

I added more stuff to my previous post.

You'll need active capable amps, and split the front signal with Y splitters. For midbass, set the crossover to lowpass and play a 160hz test tone and set it accordingly. high pass filter will be set to 63 hz on the head unit.

some amps have a x10 thats for higher frequencies and midrange. Low pass means it wont play higher then its stated frequencies and high pass means it wont play lower then that.

Its easier if you have a seperate 2 channel amp for the midbasses or tweeters. Actually its not possible without one lol. You'll need either three 2 channel amps or one 4 channel with one 2 channel amp.

what h/u ? i dont have that setting on mine?i have 80 - 120- 160 for both high and low.

are you saying now i need one of them radios ?
lol the 80 prs as high pass options of 50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160, 200. I'd say you'd want the whole shebang eventually lol. A good head unit with active capable amps.

Damn it car audio!! Big arse money sink.

ok i have that.

i have...

1- 4ch 200rms x4 @ 2ohms

1-2ch 125rms x2 @4ohms or 250rms x2 @ 2ohms

1-2ch for my rear fill. 75 rms x 2 @4ohms

ok you say the 80prs right ? is the alpine 9887 as good ?

i ask because i can get the 9887 one for a good price.

but if you think i would like the 80 better let me know.

i like adjusting...

I can only speak for the 80 prs, never used the alpine 9887. I know the 80 prs has a lot more tuning options and is a bit more modern then the 9887. SQ wise its a random tossup, i know that 9887 is a very well respected SQ head unit with great internal processors.

ya thats why this is so hard. i love my alpine h/u . but have heard the 80 has more adjustments.

i said that wrong . i have the 7894 alpine and i like alpine.

but its a tossup 80prs or alpine 9887........................................

so you say i should use my 2ch amp for the 8"'s right ?

i have my 4ch on my 4- 6.5's and 2 tweeters for now. going to add 1 more set of tweeters to that amp. so all 4ch will be running at 2ohms. 2 speakers per ch.

so i would have my 4- 8" bass speakers running at 250 rms x 2ch at 2 ohms per ch.
