Pics... Temporary Box for a 12" XXX

One of my friends whipped me up a box for one of my 12"s real quick, so I could have a lil somethin to listen too....

I don't remember the exact dimmensions, but its about 2.02 cu. ft after displacement and its tunned at about 28 HZ..

It sounds really good at all levels, but doesn't get as loud as I was expecting.... (I don't think I'll ever be happy, no matter what I get)

I'm thinkin the sub is not broke in yet as Its prolly had about 2-3 hours of music play time, no sine waves or test tones...

My power wire is a bit thin, so I'm going to run new wire (do the Big 3) and also, thinking about adding another 1500D to it, since I have several of them around... One per voice coil and see how it does...

Also, its facing sub back right now, I might try facing it up and forward... When I put the wall in its goona face forward then, so......

28 hertz is tunned pretty low, if your looking for more output, then tune it at about 38 hertz.

28-32 is the norm for a 12'' xxx...

I wanted a lot of SQ too... Not a Test Tone Burping Box, but a really fricken loud musical box... Thats the reasoning for the current tunning....

what do you mean uhh no if he tunes it higher he will most definitly get more output so uhh yes tune it higher around 38~40hz and you will get louder.

Yea a 1500D.... Amp seems to play well, no shutting off or getting hot.. No probs as of yet...

The last 2 pics are of it, albeit not to good of pics... Wiring looks Crappy too, but that was just a hurry up and get it in job... I'ma re-do it maybe this weekend...

pretty clean for a quick box IMO... not bad....

my 15 XXX is currently in a 2.5 cu ft sealed box and gets LOUD at all levels with great SQ.... I have nothing in yet though because I am building a new snailshell for it and my amps just came in yesterday. I have an Orion 1200d for the XXX and Orion 3002 for the components....

I'll install everything Saturday....

Im going to clear this up. When i said his tuning was low, I didnt mean for sq, but for spl, since he said he wanted louder. Tunning it at 35-38 hertz shouldnt hurt the sq to much. He will lose a little low end, but will gain output by quite a bit.

jesus dude. get at LEAST 4 guage. 1 or 2 would be best though. thats prolly why your not getting any power!

now upgrade that wire man! and if you wanted SQ - you should have sealed it in about 4 cubes TBH.

Yes, it is. Im not going to bother looking it up, but that would be a pretty lopsided alignment. Maybe he was thinking of the 18" as that would be on par for a recommended sealed size.
