*PICS* 15 cuft @ 28.5hz for (2) RE MT 18's

Thread subscribed.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Nice work.....I wanna see more building flex vids when your done.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Well, got the build finished and installed in my ride, but only (1) subs works //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. No worries though because the MT's were shipped to me with a free recone.
While I'm doing the recone I will drop in the other working 18 into my 18" BTL's old 7cuft @ 32hz with 100sq.in. of port enclosure and see how the MT stands up to the BTL. Even though the BTL had 3800rms on it @ 1ohm and this MT will only have 2850rms @ 2 ohm it will still be interesting to see the difference in the same box.

I will post some results.
Well bad news and good news....

The bad news is that I dont have a dust cap or glue with my recone so the reconing of the blown MT 18 is going to be put off for while.

But, the good news is that I installed the other working MT 18 into the 7cuft box that I used to have my 18 fully loaded BTL in and results are very interesting...

I never metered my BTL so this isnt really a good comparison. It's just a opinion by using my hearing and feeling.

So here's what Im working with.

SUBS:

Dual 2 ohm 18" FI BTL Fully Loaded

Dual 1 ohm 18" RE Audio MT

AMP:

Rockford Fosgate t30001bd

2 ohm - 2800rms

1 ohm - 3800rms

BOX:

7 cuft tuned to 32hz with 100sq.in. of port.

MT PROS:

The MT hits the lows extremly well, much better then the BTL ever did. It gets loud and my blazer flex's more on a few songs because the lows are hitting with much more authority. 30-35hz is amazing!

MT CONS:

Even with the sub wired at 2ohm getting 2800rms it doesnt seem to handle the power near as weel as the Fully Loaded BTL did. On 40hz burps it doesnt seem like it has the SPL potential like the BTL did even if I was to feed it more power.

BTL PROS:

It's alot louder then the MT, loud enough to cause pain in the ears when burping at 40hz. It handles the power much better. Very loud 35-40hz range.

BTL CONS:

Doesn't hit the lows as well as the MT.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

I'll make some vids of the Blazer parked in the same location that I used for the vids of the BTL. The location of the"Building Flex" and "Effects of BTL on Gas Stations" vids that I made are all very close to me. It's not gonna be that noticable of a difference but will still be kinda cool to see what happens //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Wow that's a great test...

Kind of opposite of what I was thinking...I have an 18" MT...but I've never heard an 18" BTL....

So you don't have any SPL meter? It doesn't need to be a TL...

As long as the meter is consistent you can use it to see the difference between the 2 setups //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks again!

That would be a great idea, but the BTL was sold.

Oh yeah, which one "moves" more?
That MT doesn't move much huh?
The MT actually has close to the same amount of excursion as the BTL. It moves alot, my rear window is popping out further then usual too.

I listened to the MT for about 4 hours yesterday and it's very impressive, much more then day 1 of testing. The lows are just sick on it! Way more vehicle flex is going on which isnt neccisarly a good thing, but it's flexxing more because the lows are hitting soo much better.

I drove to the local audio express to see if they had a extra remote laying around for my Pioneer 6800 because the volume knob broke off. They hooked it up with a remote for free then asked me what I was running because they told me I was flexing the windows and roof panels of the store like crazy when I pulled up to the front.

They heard it and couldn't believe it. During the test a installer came from out back and listened to it. He said it was louder then the managers system which is (6) RF T1 12's. So to say the least these audio express noobs where very impressed with the RE MT 18 on 2800rms in 7cuft @ 32hz with 100sq.in. of port.

I'll make a vid this weekend to show you what im talking about.

*edit* Oh BTW, Im going to try to recone the other MT 18 this weekend so hopefully I'll have both of them up and running in the 15cuft wall //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

wow that thing is a MONSTER.. what size is that L7 behind there, a 15? that RE looks sick
Thats a 10" L7 it's 2.5 cubes @ 28hz T-Line with 35sq.in. of port area, it's made for a hometheater setup. It sounds very good and hits the lows nicely, but doesnt get that loud, it gets 250rms from a plate amp.

The box on top of the 15cuft Dual 18 enclosure is a prefab Dual 12" subzone that was givin to me by a friend, it's 5 cuft @ 30hz. I've tested it with some type R's and it wasnt very impressive of a box. Kinda shitty actually. The glossy black 5 cuft @ 34hz with 84sq.in of port that I sold which had the R's in it was way way better in output and sq.

The box on the far right is for a single 15" it's 4 cuft @ 37hz with 70sq.in of port area. with double baffle.

I've also got (2) JL 10 W3's in 2.5 cubes @ 30hz with 40 sq.in. of port area(not pictured), it's used in my computer sound systems setup. It gets 150rms from a plate amp and sounds very good for fps gaming and listing to music. Very good SQ with the JL's.
