Picking up a Kragen sub

Well have any of you bought a subwoofer from Kragen auto parts? They have a sale add with a 15" sub don't know what brand (some no name) and it's only $20. It says it has a maximum power handling of 1,000 watts. It doesn't say how many ohm the voicecoil is in the add. I'll try and test to see how much wattage it can really handle. It says it has the most advance speaker technology. It has a kevlar bonded cone. I'll let you know if it blows my 2 10" k's out of the water.

Sure will. I expect it to last 2 weeks. If it's a single four ohm voice coil then I can only send it around 300 watts rms which could be dangerous considering the subs max wattage is 1,000 watts so its rms must be around 500 watts, so I'm short 200 watts. Better make sure I don't send the sub a clipped signal. I'll be impressed if this subs is as loud as 1 of my 10" k's hooked up. I'll pick it up either tomorrow at lunch or Tuesday. I'm already cracking up.

Ugh...........as far as I know, underpowering will not hurt your subs!

I just have to watch that clipped signal from me trying to get them to be loud when I'm underpowering them with my amp.

I'll let you know what brand it is once I get it. Kragen also sells a 15" sub box for $13. I'll pick this box up to put it in. Did your one from walmart rattle your rear view mirror? Did yours come with a 67 Oz. Giga magnet? I bet yours came with the more standard 60 OZ. Giga magnet.

wow, it blew me away when i opened the package. YELLOW

ive seen both subs, there prob the same.

There like 15" PUPS.(which they dont sell)
