Well i've got an 03 Ford F-150 Reg. Cab and here is the setup im going with and i have a couple questions and things.

H.U.- Pioneer Premier DEH-770

Sub Amp- Hifonics Brutus BX1500D ( 1500x1 @ 1ohm...750 watts a sub)

Subs- 2 12" Soundsplinter RL-p's 4 ohm

Box- Ported Box made to specs (1.5-2.0ft3, 34hz)

Wiring- 4 Gauge wiring kit

Speakers- Will go with some components later along with amp for them...

How does this setup look? Since this sub is a 1 ohm stable amp and to get the 750 watts to each sub would i need to get 4 ohm subs or 2 ohm subs since these are DVC's? Also would 4 gauge wiring be enough for this? I wont be upgrading so i just need enough for this. Would you change the tuning freq. on the box or anything? Thanks guys!

Those soundsplinter RLPs sound so good -- it is a shame to run them in a higher tuned undersized vented alignment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif -- I'd go sealed about that size personally -- I guess you can plug the ports //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif -- I'd make it a little bigger if possible -- it is a truck though... and tune lower... 28hz max :p -- 34 would be louder though -- just not as deep...

Unless that amp is fairly close I think I'd go with 2 awg...

You will be fine with 4 guage wiring on that amp. The Hifonics is over rated, so be aware that you will not be giving those subs 750w each, probably more like 650, somewhere around there. But a decent amp none the less. And as for tuning, 34Hz is a good number, depending on what you listen to. For rap, that is just fine. If you listen to rock you might want it lower for more SQ though. And that is a tiny box... Sealed would be fine for those subs in that size box.

Well i listen to rap 70% and rock 30% so what would be a better tuning # for a little deeper bass ( i know i will give up a little sq when doing this but im not sure if the lower the number the deeper the bass or the higher the number the deeper lol sry). Also, I could probably go bigger than that but thats what they recommend so i didnt know. Do you think 3ft3 total would be good or what?

When you tune lower (deeper) you increase SQ. Tuning higher reduces SQ and increases SQL.

And when they say 1.5-2.0cuft for a ported box, that means per sub. So you would not be wise in making one box that small for two subs. I would try to aim for around 4 cubes if possible, and tune to 34Hz, as you first wanted. 34 should have pretty good SQ, especially with those subs, and should get PLENTY loud.

alright cool thanks. And would i get teh 4 ohm dvc subs and that would wire them both down to 1 ohm correct. Ive heard 1 ohm is fine for daily but i want to make sure.

sweet ***! alrighty thanks! Will this setup shake walls inside houses?
well from my experience sealed seem to make my wall shake more then ported //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif did i guess it has some thinking to do with sealed going lower in hz?? now it did shake my walls ported but not like it does now that i have it sealed it just insane man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif when it comes to wall shaken

When I started reading this thread, I though you might be a pretty cool guy.

With that statement you lost whatever respect I was going to give you.

Your goal should not be to rattle someone else's brains out. It should be to please yourself sonically. It's people who say "I want to be heard from a block away", "I want to break someones windows", "Will this setup shake walls inside houses" who make people hate people like me and others on this forum who have systems in our cars.

Jeez.

Ok, so if i want a little more spl then sq would i take my tuning up to like 36hz or would i take it down to like 32hz? I will probably be doing about a 3.5ft3 box if i can fit it. Hopefully i can!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

OlogyAudio said that the lower you go the deeper it hits but not as loud. Aren't those the same or whats the diff.?
The lower you tune -- the lower the frequency that the gain in centered around (slightly above depending on the loading conditions)... and the gain isn't as high as the frequency decreases... lots of different factors...

Anyways after the tuning frequency there is a steep ~4th order rolloff -- meaning lower in frequency the efficiency of the system drops... -- tune high get more gain up high -- but lose the spl down low...
