phase switch on sundown

i know other amps have the phase switch too. but i just realized i never did anything with the phase switch on my sundown.

wtf does it really do or whats the correct way to set it and how do you know?

i remember i would switch it from 0 to 180 and my sub would pop in and out but idk what the hell it really does or how i know which setting is right on it. help with it?

leave it at 0. It switches the polarity on the amp.IE if you have a sub hooked up and you accidentally wired the positive to the negative and the negative to the positive(wire the sub out of phase) it reverses the polarity. I probably didn't explain it that good but all it does is switch the polarity.

thanks man. nah dont worry, this was pretty much a perfect answer.

i guess its a good extra feature on the amps, but i dont see why anyone would wire their subs wrong and not go and pull them out and wire them right? or if you wire them correctly then the phase switch has no use. idk, seems almost pointless to have it. its almost like the manufacturers of the amps assume we are going to wire the subs incorrectly lol

It's there for convenience when tuning/integrating your sub to your frontstage. Would you rather flip a switch or switch the speaker wires to blend your subbass with your midbass?

well the way you put it, makes it sound like its there for a specific useful purpose.

only because i really dont know, il ask, but how does switching the polarity/phase of the sub help integrate with the front stage?

well, i went and i double checked my phase switch and it was at 180, i switched it to 0 and im getting much more output from my subs now. so thats awesome!

What happens when you are using different crossover slopes between your midbass drivers and your subs, thus forcing you to need a phase other than 0 or 180 degrees to avoid cancellation issues?

Find an amp with a phase knob vs a phase switch //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

your subbass and midbass are probably in or in better acoustic phase with each other.
