People with 18" subs...

Originally posted by brad.farmer Sir, I do not want to fight. I just want to find out information.

Alright, I am the person who posted, that these towers go down to 45 hertz. Yes, they are not the best, they are good speakers. Sir, you have to remember, though these speakers were made about twelve years ago. They were made to be loud home theater speakers, not low bass speakers. Thank you for the info you have given me, I do appreciate, but I already knew it.

There is a couple of things I would like to know, though. Of course, if you are wiling to find, sir.

Alright, I do not have the owner manual for the Infinity SM150+ home theater tower speakers. And I was wonder a couple of things:

1.) How high do these polycell dome tweetes go up to?

2.) What is the crossover range?

3.) Is it true that it handles 500 RMS and 1,500 RMS

NOTE: The S150+ has other speakers, that look just alike. For instance, the SM155s are a newer version, but not as good as the SM150+s.

If you chose to help me, I do however have to say this, it would be a great appreciation, sir.

I don't understand you. First you're the know-it-all guy who doesn't agree with anyone on this board. Now you're asking questions and saying things that are the complete opposite of what you've said in the past. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

again, I'd have to point out that even 20 years ago, there have been speakers that can still rival the current lineup of speakers.

Price doesn't ALWAYS dictate what is the best... but at $2,500, I don' think it's even close to what audiophiles would consider.

Hz has always been Hz since the beginning of time. I believe audiophiles 12 years ago still wouldn't have been satisfied with a 45Hz cutoff. Take the 1818 symphony by tchikovsky. I sue this to test my subs, and it's scary. The lowest it goes is 18Hz. If the infinity speaker can only go down to 45Hz, then you're missing the whole array of cannon shots. That would NOT be what I call a quality driver. I'm sure it's another figure, much lower than 45Hz. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I know my infinity spekaers can produce fine cannon blasts from that CD.

Home theater speakers... surround speakers? If that's the case, it's out of the audiophile dictionary. I still don't like the 5.1 channel idea.

I believe you ca coax inifinity to sending you a proper manual for those speakers, provided you ask niocely, and not come out like a know-it-all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You can also skip the "sir" thing. Just apologise for being a weener and be on your way. You'll learn much more by listening than talking..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

BTW brad. loose that attitude man .... we cna all get along if we all act respectfully and responsibly, If you can't handle that well im sorry to say it but mods are commin soon and they will fix it.

welcome to the fourm

-Mike

I will beat you down like a two dollar stripper in the middle of spring break...

Boyeeee...

Mr. Farmer- infinity specifically doesn't release specifics like that, because they don't want the design to be known. If the gave out specifics like crossover design, drivers used, and implementation, it would be like Chevy handing out the copyrights to the LS1 to Ford...

Ahahahahah

Dear God, how did I miss this thread?

It is clean, becasue of the huge magnets, nice voice coils, huge amount of Xmax, huge cone area, and expensive supplies. It goes down to 26 Hz, if i recollect correctly. It handles 1,000 RMS. And, at 3,000 watts, the warranty is void on the subwoofer. At 2,000 watts, the subwoofer will play, but will sound noisy, and will burn up the speaker, once played too loudly.
What W7 have you heard? What W7 have you owned and tested to verify these numbers? I believe it's safe to say that the answer is: none. You can easily substitute any other driver in those last two questions and I'd bet the answer is the same each time.

I can go post all sorts of "facts" about any driver you can name, and guess what? I'd still be ignorant of that driver. What seperates you and me, Brad, is that I can acknowledge that I don't know everything. I don't make claims that I'm an "expert" on anything. I do claim to be rather familiar with the products I've personally owned and worked with, however. But what is it that you own? Surely if you own or have lots of first-hand experience with all the products you've mentioned here, then you must be one rich mofo. What car do you own/drive?

Oh, wait, you're not old enough to drive?

I thought as much.
