PE Crossover Question

Since I'll be piecing my front stage together using different brand mids and tweeters, I don't have any sort of 2-way crossover. My 2.600 has an active setup on it but it's a 2 channel so I can only do so much with it. I was looking at this and was wondering, does that cross both my mids and my tweets at 3500? It says that it's designed mainly for 8 ohm use but can be used on 4 ohms. My mids are 3 ohm and the tweeters I get would most likely be 4 ohm (I am just using stocks atm). Would using a 3 ohm speaker damage the crossover?

 
Sorry, I can't answer your question directly, but I would advise against this crossover. You want to be able to adjust gains to match the output of your speakers. If your speakers sound good with this crossover, it will be by sheer luck.

Would you mind using 6dB crossover slopes? If not, you could implement your own bi-amp crossover, by inserting an appropriate inductor in the mids loop for low pass filter, and an appropriate capacitor into tweeter's circuit for a high pass filter. Actually, a lot of woofers do not even need a low pass filter. Some, but not all, will roll off gently at higher frequencies without issues.

It splits the frequency to the two outputs.

As Bubba said, passives use the impedance of the speaker to help determine the actual xover point. That xover is designed to use 8ohm tweeters, so using 3 or 4 ohm tweets will alter the xover point for them.

 
Princ3cmo what type of components should I use to piece the crossover together? PE has a ton of different types but I don't know which one I need. My tweeter would be 4 ohm and the mid is 3 ohm, 6dB/octave crossed at 4k.

 
Arrrgh, that part I'm not sure on. I started by finding an 8 or 4 ohm mid I liked then the xover and then tweeter. I haven't looked Too much into using different ohm loads on em. I tried to stay close to the original specs. Sorry. I'm sure a pe tech could tell u though. Can't be too hard

 
Alright, cause I can get the necessary uF and the mH values but PE has so many different types I'm just not sure what to go with. I'll hit them up later and see what the deal is.
