PDX 4 channel amp problem

Have any of you heard of possible problems with the alpine pdx line sharing the same power supply for the front and rear channels and causing a high pitched noise...

my problem is that i orderd one recently ( 4.100) and while having the two channels connected to the speaker no problems but as soon as i connect the rear ones i get a high pitched noise coming from a speaker at zero volume. and that is even when having anything connected to the amp just the power and the speaker wire without any signal wires.

anybody experienced such a thing or is my amp just faulty....

I need help with mine also... my PDX4.100 does the same thing with the noise but not sure about removing two speakers... I'll check tomorrow. Anyone got a solution yet?

I am about to that point... I replaced it with another PDX4.100 and it does the same thing. Did you swap brands or did you go to an A/B style as opposed to D?

Never had that issue w/ my PDX-5, it did have a good amount of noise though.

What would happen if you bridge your 4 channel amp and make it a 2 channel amp, would it make the same noise?

I am thinking the same thing... since it uses channels 3 and 4 for the two outputs when bridged. Although I will lose fade and the some of the cool 2 zone features of my Kenwood DNX-8120. Bridging would definitely be temporary till I could either replace the amp or fix the problem.

10-4 on that... I working to get a hold of some JL 450/4 or 300/4 and a 500/1 to replace my alpines...

I worked on one of those PDX 100.4 or whatever they are called. I still have the large USB looking quick/speaker connector here at my shop. The amp left here with wires hanging out of it... LOL... That's what the customer wanted....

I don't recall it making any strange noises, but I only tested it 1 channel at a time, never more than one so I am unsure.... Makes me think for testing 2 and 4 channel amps I need to go buy some 6x9's or something so I can hook all 4 channels up at one time like you would in the car to make sure there are no "weird" issues like that before it leaves my shop.... Never had any complaints yet though, so may "not" be necessary but would be nice none the less...
