Because your toboshi cost $400 and her macbook cost $1500.
Just because it says 'lithium ion' on it doesn't mean its equal to all other lithium ion batteries.
Your basically saying " my sony xploid system sounds like crap and my friend's JL system sounds so much better, wtf? we both have 1000w amps and 12'' subs"
Tobishi uses cheap *** batteries in their laptops. You might be able to buy a respectable battery somewhere that will fit, it should cost you at least $100.
Mac, like JL, jacks their prices way the **** up. Its sort of like how
crutchfield marks their prices ABOVE retail/MSRP.
Not only do different laptop companies use different batteries, but different laptop models are equipped with different batteries.
Its one of the reasons why those $1500 laptops with seemingly the same features as a $500 laptop cost so much more.
With lower end models, they crap down on a few things. cheap battery, cheap screen, cheap case, cheap harddrive. They use crappier parts to bring down the cost to appeal to the 'lower' end of the market.
Another point is; Mac is an operating system, which is made by apple. Mac does not make computers, APPLE makes computers. Apple makes their computers with the Mac OS (you can install windows or linux if you wish)
Apple uses great components, has pretty good quality control, and has a great warranty.
HOWEVER, some of the components they use are the same components that are found in other computers.
Assuming for this example that an i5 processor is an i5 processor is an i5 processor; Apple will charge you $500 for the part. HP will charge you $400 for the part. a computer store will charge you $300.
The point you should learn is, Apple charges a higher premium for their products.
Personally, I would never buy a macbook. I would of course use it if I got one for free (or if I got one at a HUGE discount). But I wouldn't buy one at Apple's price.
If for some reason you enjoy the Mac os, you can buy a 'windows' PC and just install the Mac os on it. Very simple.
A crappy company would select a cheap crappy harddrive. Lets say a samsung 80gb 5400rpm harddrive.
A better company would select a better harddrive for its computers. Lets say a seagate 80gb 5400 rpm harddrive.
The seagate is of better quality than the samsung, although they will perform basically the same, the seagate will probably last longer.
The crappier company will be able to charge a lower price because of their crappy components.
The better company will have to charge a higher price. The better company will probably charge a higher premium, because they're known to be a better company, and they can, and they want your money.
Cliffs:
apple has jacked up prices.
Your better off buying an ASUS or DELL studio.
cheap computers are just that; cheap.
