PC Geeks Help

I hadMcAfee for a while. Norton was the only one to pick up if a virus or hacker attempted to get into my computer. McAfee just sat there and didn't detect shit. I did the free scan from Norton and didnt' detect anything yet I KNOW the virus/worm is on my HD.
Oh btw..I did reformat. That's why I'm so pissed cuz I reformatted the HD and it's STILL on there.
Give up on Nortons, the only times my computer has ever been infected was with Nortons.

There is different degrees of reformatting, regular reformats don't actually wipe all the old info.

My recovery system has two options a "Destructive" and a "save" type mode. I did destructive which wipes everything off my HD and reformats. The virus/worm is still onhere.

I have a Western Digital 80GB HD that is literally brand new. Used for twoish weeks in my old pc. It has Windows ME recovery on it. That's it. So my plan was to swap out my HD's and run this computer's recovery on the WD HD since its clean. Should I attempt it or no?

Oh btw...none of the links stones posted have detected any viruses/worms even though I KNOW the **** thing is on here.

Problem..I dont have the XP Install Disc. It's just on the 5 recovery discs...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The virus/worm is in my startup. It's under HKLM/ blah blah/Run

Well I went into Run and i can't find it. On msconfig there is a blank command and item but shows the HKLM/blah/Run

So is there a way I can find sometthing suspicious in my regedit that I can delete it? There was a OEMreset_switch

if you all wanna check ur registry and see if that ones in there or sometihng...cuz it restarts everytime windows loads..

F8 & do "Enable Boot Logging" & post the file.

Disconnect ALL devices(pci cards, drives, etc) except the hard drive with the OS on it. If you have more than one memory module, try each mutually exclusively.

Go into your BIOS & see what kind of video ([x]vga/agp) settings are there & post that. Disable onboard non-necessities like LAN, sound, USB, etc.

Does your BIOS beep differently after POST?

I think this is a hardware problem.

If you can get into safe mode, you can get to the Enable Boot Logging option. Right-click on the Run Key under hkcu/etc... & see what the permissions look like.
