do this... when using your recovery discs to completely reinstall windows, DELETE ALL PARTITIONS AND INSTALL WINDOWS IN THE UNPARTITIONED SPACE!!! this way your hard drive is completely reformatted and if it is indeed a hardware issue, you will know it...

I'm speechless. I just completed recovering my system. It still restarts after about 15seconds of loading windows under normal start up. Safe Mode still works. my parents are going to kill me. WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH THIS PIECE?

still have problems? I just fixed my computer after deleting a critical file...haha. Done that tons of times. Msg jerstud56 on AIM or jer_stud6@hotmail.com on MSN. I'm the "help desk" as warren would put it.

Well I have a literally brand new Western Digital 80GB HD in my old pc. We bought it because we hoped it would fix our old computer but it didn't. So all it has on it is Windows ME. (yes my other pc was old and that was the recovery OS) So Im thinking why not take this infected one out of this pc and swap in the WD HD (even tho its half the size but I dont use this computer for anything but AIM, email, CA, and music..some games) and use this comp's recovery cd on that WD HD.

Or will that not work since there are two diff OS's ...

jer stud....I dl'ed AIM on here to talk to ppl using annoying safe mode but it won't sign me on...once I hit sign on it just freezes safe mode...so I'll just email you or something..

try booting into safe mode and running it

Go to each of these sites and get an online virus scan(you will need to download an activex for them to work, don't worry its safe)

Write down the name and location of any nasty files they find that they cant delete.

If all three scanners fail to find anything you may need to completely reformat and reinstall, or hand it over to a pro and pay them to fight with it.

Oh, one more thing.

Nortons sucks!

When you get the chance, get rid of Nortons and install a different AV program like AVG or Mcafee.

I hadMcAfee for a while. Norton was the only one to pick up if a virus or hacker attempted to get into my computer. McAfee just sat there and didn't detect shit. I did the free scan from Norton and didnt' detect anything yet I KNOW the virus/worm is on my HD.

Oh btw..I did reformat. That's why I'm so pissed cuz I reformatted the HD and it's STILL on there.
