Paying for install question

what gauge? and are they providing the wires? (power, ground, RCA, remote?) If u have the wires they shouldn't charge u more than maybe around $50 since they charge by the hour at some places (less than an hour to set up). But If they are giving the wires for u than its gonna cost more. a 4 gauge with Low-Hi convertor and remote and speaker wire cost me $65. But it was a pretty cheap shop, 4 gauge at a nice place should cost anywhere between $75-100

It's pretty easy to do it urself and as killahbean said its a good feeling, but iono, there are pretty stupid people out there (at shops and DYI installers). So if u have no idea at all I wouldn't do it, and take it to a reputible shop. My friend had them do his F-350 running barely 700watts rms (some Audiobahn BS) and they used the wrong wires. Short story is his truck cought fire and the entire thing burned from the engine to the back. Sued them and got a cool 9k (he paid 7 for truck and system). So dont take it to some baredoor shop u dont trust.

My setup i have ordered is two

(10'' 1200 Watt Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer Driver for Small Enclosures

Mfg: Lanzar - Item No.: MAXP104D)

subwoofers and the amp is a

(1200 Watt 4 Channel Bridgeable MOSFET Amplifier

Mfg: Pyramid - Item No.: PB1500 ) and what should installation on that run???

The shop by me said it was going to be around 200 for them to install everything.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

It's easy.

The first time I got into car audio I installed my own HU and then when I got an amp and some subwoofers I installed the amp wiring myself.

Do this....

Go outside and pop your hood.Look around up against the firewall for a rubber hole plug.Once you find it take it out. This is a factory hole already there so you don't have to drill one to pass the power cable from the battery, through the firewall and to the amp.

Before doing any electrical work on any car always disconnect the negative battery terminal.

For the RCA cables all you need to do is remove your HU and plug one end of the RCA's to the HU's pre-amp outputs, then snake the other end down inside the dash behind the HU and pull them out the bottom of the dash on the rightside.Remove the floor/running boards and run you power wire down one side of the car and your RCA's down the other.

While you're connecting the RCA's be sure to also find the HU's Remote turn on wire and attach your amp wiring kits remote turn on wire to it by using a butt connector and then run the wire down nehind the HU in the dash just like you did the RCA's and down the same side of the car as the RCA's.

Secure your HU back into the dash, place the running boards back on concealing the runs of power wire, remote wire and RCA cables.

Now to install the amps ground wire.Your ground wire should be about 3' long.

Remove the trunk liner and find a factory bolt.Remove the bolt and sand the paint and primer of the area the bolt goes so you an make a good ground connection.

Some cars you may have to drill a hole into to make a ground connection but be careful not to drill into any brake lines or the gas tank!!!

Once you have made your ground and connected one endo of the ground cable to it is when you bust out with your amplifier.

Brin the amp out to the trunk and find a suitable mounting position for it and mount it in place.

Connect the amps power cable to the batteries positive terminal, but leave the negative terminal off the battery still...DO NOT CONNECT NEGATIVE TERMINAL BACK ON BATTERY YET!!!!!

Secure the end of the power cable in your trunk to your amps 12v+ terminal.

Secure the end of the remote turn on wire to your amps remote turn on terminal.

Secure the end of the amps ground wire to the amps ground terminal.

Connect the RCA cables to your amps RCA inputs.

Reconnect the batteries negative terminal and shut the hood.

voilla...your amp is installed and you didn't have to pay a dime for labor FTMFW!!!

Nice write up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That's all it really is... Three main wires, RCA's, and Speaker wires. Just find someone that knows what they're doing to guide you through it.
