Pats new amprack - 7 pics

x2.... you might want to get some fans or something, because all the heat that builds up in the heatsinks will radiate straight back up into the amps.
x3...I have the same amp but only 300watts, and it gets real hot for how small it is - and that's with it sitting upright.

^Odd. I haven't had a problem with mine when running normal?

gogo req. The box is a wedge. I have both amps temporarily wired up all temporarily and the like. I would have bass but my RCAs are busted, all for connectors somehow. So tomorrow looks like this:

pick up acorn nuts

get rca to run from hu to h701 (until my optical cable arrives)

pick up RCA patch cables to go from h701 to amps

cut and rewire monsoon harness to run power from amps to front speakers until I can pay for the mids and build the kicks (tweets are on the way)

And yes, I'll try and get pictures along the way.

Biggest challenge will be getting the h701 to fit, me thinks. I wish I had an o-scope and/or rta. The local shop doesn't know what an o-scope is...

I'm sure that you won’t have much of an issue running it upside down; the heat sink is mostly to take the heat immediately away from the transistors, which it will still do. There might be a few degrees difference but it shouldn’t hurt anything.

looks clean and stealth except if sopmeone knew u had a setup itd be aeasy for them jsut to rip out that panel and run but i like it personally...very stealth
Yeah, I thought about the theft thing but with everything painted black it shouldn't be too noticable. I'm going to get a little tint too, for looks.

The whole freaking amp is a heatsink //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

stealth = tits

upside-down amps = warm tits. (which is better) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The CAI was $20 at a junk yard. It's cool tits. I wonder if I can find a 8v short runner intake?

The brown shit is chocolate. I have yet to clean it out... It was the girlfriends... heh.

I am going to fg a new center console holding ONLY the shifter boot and cover for the e-brake. I am leaving the center as open as possible.

Work done today:

ran ai-net and optical to rear

tested h701 functionality + 9860 controls (a fun half hour before consulting the book)

reloacted hu ground to the rear

unrun busted rcas

I wish I could have gotten the monsoon coverted to active however one amp was giving me trouble so that took like an hour+ of troubleshooting.

I was asked where the ground was and how long the ground wires were. Well, here's your answer. Here's the ground and distro:

The ground is as follows:

bolt head>small washer>h701>large washer>4agw>large washer>4agw>large washer>head unit>medium washer*>sanded metal>nut

* = I used the largest I could there. There is a piece of metal that comes up near the hole and meets it. I wanted to use a large washer but it was too big and didn't sit flat. With the smaller washer, I was okay.

The untaped wires are the ground. The siver is longer than need-be. It's not cut to size, yet. All of the wires will be encased in black split loom and mounted removeable style to the hatch pannel when I'm done.

I didn't get any pics of any of the other work along the way because I just got the camera (945) but I took every pannel out of the car today, including the drivers and rear seats. It was fun, to say the least.

In case anyone was interested, the h701 indeed fits in the stock monsoon amp holder. The connectors have to face the door but that's not a problem, really. New holes need to be drilled, but again, not a problem. I test fitted with the amp out, just no pictures.

Good stuff Mr Pwnt. Thanks for pointing out the ground to me....I actually might try that same thing. Man I miss that sub...she sure looks pretty //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Fox, my initial impressions with the sub are less than stellar. Sure, the sub was the only thing playing and I probably didn't have any of the settings right but she was getting 300w per coil with the temp box in the spare tire well firing up. I saw her move (more than I expected which suprised me) and heard a lot of motor noise but not a lot of bass. Like I said, probably a wrong setting or something. Hopefully I'll get to play more with it soon, and get the monsoon integrated throug the h701.

I'm disappointed with how little work I got done but at least I had fun.
