Eat this, Mac Haters: Windows support.

On the contrary, there was a contest going somewhere with a hefty reward in the thousands for proof of a Windows installation on an Intel Mac.

Not exactly x86, FWIW. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The contest for the first solution to boot Windows XP on an Intel-Mac has been won, according to a post on the official website. The contest had offered a cash reward of nearly $14,000 for the first successful solution, which was subject to three restrictions offered by the creators: (1) Instructions must boot Windows XP (at least), not Vista or any other version of Windows; (2) Windows must be able to coexist with Mac OS X and each system may not interfere with the operation of the other (a traditional dual boot system where one OS is running at a time); and (3) the method must offer the user the option to boot either Mac OS X or Windows XP. The submitted solution was reportedly peer-reviewed for legitimacy and the post said that the final solution will run on all Intel-based iMacs, the MacBook Pro, and the Intel-based Mac mini. While not available now, a post on the user forums says that the solution will be posted shortly along with a downloadable bootloader. The site says that future donations will be used to help support an open-source project that will be launched with the initial solution.
Win.

XP is a terrible operating system for some people, but in a business environment XP Professional reigns....but.... Windows 2k was the best OS they made

The Longhorn / Vista alphas have been available for years, and offer nothing especially attractive to me, especially NetFS.

Ideally, I will be able to Expose' from Leopard (10.5) to Vista (or whatever) and the wars will end.

Some lame developers will still develop for /only/ Windows; But in the end, alt.binaries.windows will resemble alt.binaries.amiga.

alt.binaries.universal, for winnar.

It'll be sad to see AMD go.

They better whip up some 3d accelerators before it's too late.

Admittedly, Rosetta is slow with Office for Mac applications on an Intel Mac.Then again, that's because it's all *** backwards.

A microsoft app written for a macintosh running in emulation on an intel chip. :)At least it works. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
