I finished up my "new" "amprack" and am liking it. Sexy ampage, maybe.

Outside the car - I will paint the hardware black to match the hatch pannel:

Inside:

Closer - I will get shorter screws, or cut those down. The ones in the back are the perfect length:

With box - check out how much room I have left:

Full functional use of the cubby:

I think the h701 just may fit:

I couldn't be more pleased. The hatch pannel cords can hold up the amps. The hatch can no longer open by itself but I always made it open faster by hand, anyway.

I don't think heat will be a problem. Many people enclose thier amps and run them fine, although if those Rbicons are hot little things like the Infinity amps are, then yes, maybe a fan or two.

I say try it out for a week or so.

The amps do get hot when running a huge load on them. However, this is going to be a SQ install and the amps will NOT be producing their full output. One will be driving maybe 300w max, the other about 400. Heat shouldn't be a problem - despite the fact that they are upside down. I guess we shall see.

This was actually the best layout I could figure out. These cars are SMALL when using decent sized amps. I tried with side installs, a false floor, on the box... nothing seemed right. I wanted to keep it as OEM as possible while holding all my gear. The spare tire is a MUST. I could have done falls walls however I figure if I ever compete for SQ then the fact that the pannel opens up (and the h701 fits in the monsoon holder) will be + install points.

The box isn't small. It's actually about .4 cu ft too big for the sub I'm using. I'll have to add filling to make it smaller. There's no sub in it yet 'cause I'm waiting on someone to bring me an MDF ring so I can fiberglass a nice curved front piece to the front baffle. bastard won't drive 20 miles to drop it off like he said he would. It's going to house the sub in my sig.

Az, too bad it's only a 2... A turbo or SC will probably be in the works pretty soon though. As a fellow golf owner I'm sure you can respect how little room that takes up, eh?

Thanks for the good words.

Hmm, I'll have to find some acorn nuts. I origionally had dome phillips head bolts but they ended up not looking too nice. I just may try the acorn nuts coming out the top.

I just got sideswiped about a half hour ago. Yay for opening a SECOND claim with insurance!

go there. bottom. look at stage 2 kit... pricy, but for what you paid for the car you will still be under the base price for a gti... and will have more power....

or a neuspeed s/c..

I figured custom turbo out of used parts. EIP is **** pricy and I've heard rumors they don't put out spec'd power. Used sc run ~1500 on the vortex.
