I recently sent my Polk 4 channel back because there was a faulty channel and got a refund. I was happy with the amp, and it had all the power and features I needed. However, before I go buy another one, what other 4 channels are reliable with the same power and crossover ability as the polk? I know there's a PPI900.4 but I've heard they use lesser grade components (hence the lower price). Price range is around the same as the cost of the polk amp (~$230), plus or minus $100.

Not looking for a used amp, please don't offer me one.

are those still being made? the only place I can find a "new" one is through woofersetc and i have my doubts about the quality of the product they receive..

Okay great, that's a solid option for me, I plan on getting the deh-80prs with has a dsp so i need to decide if the amp will be redundant. Still researching though, so if anyone else has suggestions to increase my options I'd appreciate it.

I have been abusing my new PPI 900.4 for over 15 hrs now on my test bench. 45 min full tilt, and the rest at 3/4 volume, like 5-6 hrs straight at a time. I have channels 1+2 on a set of cheap 6.5" 4 ohm coax's, and channels 3 + 4 on two 2 ohm 15" subs. All I can say, is this LITTLE amp is pretty awesome.

I have the front set at around 75 rms(because that is all the cheapo coax's can handle), and the rears at 240 rms, at full tilt. And this amp has yet to get more than slightly warm.

If you watch that vid, it sounds like total crap. But that is just because it is recorded with my phone....lol...it actually hits pretty hard in person, and is not distorted like it sounds on this recording. you can see how much it is moving the 15's ....

That's great to hear, it's so similar to the PAD40004 and a few other amps that I wouldn't be surprised if the internals are the same, if you have a chance to look at the internals we can compare them to the polk 4 channel. I have a ton of pictures.

Makes me wonder if the extra 20 or 30$ is worth it, or if the components internally are exactly the same

having the amp on a test bench vs the back of my hot truck behind a seat might be a little different lol

We've sold a lot of Precision Power P900.4s, and the defect rate is very low. I have no issue with the quality of the power it can produce. The case could be better, but it's built to a price. It doesn't help that Precision Power is a whored out brand that's gotten in the control of some sellers that have historically driven prices into the ground to get traction. Compared to Polk, the warranty terms may differ. Precision Power offers a 90 day warranty. This is an industry standard for equipment not sold and installed by an authorized dealer. Sometimes manufacturers offer a longer warranty for consumer-installed goods, and that would be built into the price.

I appreciate the insight, I saw you had them for sale in your store. The polk warranty is 12mos manufacturer or 12mos refund from amazon, which may make it worth it to buy another PAD. Any idea if there's a way to get a 12mos warranty from PPI through 3rd party? I have some reservations considering the last amp would of been a loss if the warranty wasn't there.

eBay's SquareTrade warranty or something similar would give you a longer warranty. It wouldn't come from PPI. We have an eBay store but P900.4 is not currently listed there.

Hmm okay. I'd prefer to buy it from someone like you than a large retailer but the warranty is important to me. Apparently I didn't check amazon, because the price is ridiculous. $165, and it should be covered under their 1yr auto part warranty too.

Have you had any opportunity to find a method for me to set the gains when I get a new amp? I was almost considering buying one of these http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-Upgraded-Pocket-Sized-Handheld-Oscilloscope/dp/B004Y3QHZ6/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1429634459&sr=8-15&keywords=oscilloscope but I don't want to get a crappy oscope that doesn't measure anything accurately enough to be useful.
