I just got a P880 (so far i love it) but had a question about the crossover and other settings.............

First: should I use the crossover on my AMP (alpine MRV-F450) or my HU......

Second: if I do use my HU, whats should I set my slope to (never had to mess with slope before, subwoofer is set to 18db from the factory and speakers are turned to 0.)

Third: Any other settings that I should know to change?

THANKS! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have another NOOB question... With my old JVC (4 volt RCA preout) I had to set my gains about half way, with this new PIONEER (5 volt RCA preout) i have to set my gains about 3/4 way............................... Curious, why would I have to increase my gains when the HU has a higher voltage preout?

so anyone have any idea what is making me have to set my gains higher with my new HU vs my OLD JVC? What could cause that? or is the PREOUT on the 880 over rated?

thanks

good chance it's overrated, different brands have different volume settings on where it produces its voltage. just use a dmm to set them. also playing music the amp will never see a 5 volt input. as for xover slopes its all up to you. i personally use a 12 db slope on my subs and a steeper 24 db slope on my highs and usually 18-24 db on the mids, but that is just general and you'll have to play with it. what slopes does that deck have?
