Orion 2500D no louder than JL 500/1

lol well i realized about the fuse...i stated that many times before, but no one really answered me.

I already kicked myself in the *** for listening to that guy who told me to run the 4gauge to the distrubution and then 2 4's out of that. I realized that.

Well w/ my experimenting...i had about the same set-up. Except my LP and HP were a little different.

I wanted to have this thing "professionally installed," but from the looks, the so called "professionals" would have this thing set to blow up.

Im sorry if i seem like a dumbass, but I really have no one near me who can help. This is the only place i have. You all can bash me all you want, but all i know is that you all are helping me SOOOOO much its not funny. And I thank you all. You all can bash me all you want. I honestly don't care because at the same time you're telling me what im doing wrong and im not blowing my amp or ruining my car. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Why in the world would you tell everyone to setup the amp like that lol.

Who says you have to use 2 4ga? You could use 2 2/0ga with reducers... we had to do that, using the + on one connector, and the - on the other.

2/0ga > 2 4ga, which is only equivelant to 2ga.

Who's chokin what //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

best results are had with that setup, thats why. question is, why not? is there something you would do different? turning the high pass on will turn on the subsonic filter. and why not use the setting at 24? 24db per octave is a steep but very nice xover slope. the 6 on there is just the level of q boost.

no one says you have to use 2 4guage, but telling him to only use one is like telling him he can walk on water.

Hi guys, I will be receiving my Orion 2500d in about a week and looking at this thread from what i'm reading the power inputs are 2x 4 gauge right? My question is i have already an reducer 0>4 on my power wire, is it still better to use 1- split the main 0 g. into 2x 4 g to the amp? or 2- Just use my 0 g with my reducer to 4 g by itself?.

Alright So If I got two batteries, would I run a 4-gauge from both batteries or 0-gauge out of the one in my trunk split into 2 4-gauge?

Would I run a 0-gauge split into two 0-gauge to both batteries from the alt.?

How do you figure everyone will benefit the most from that configuration?

Have I tried it? Yes... It it what I prefer? No... It it what works best both on the meter and for cruisin around? No...

Does that mean I'm going to tell everyone to set the amp up like me... No...

The OPTIONS are there to be set like you want them.

1/0ga with reducers is preferred... IMO //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. Do I run 1/0ga with reducers? Nope... I run 1/0ga welding cable that I trimmed down the insulation ~8", then split the wire in half and taped it. Didn't have reducers, didnt have splitters, so there you have it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. Does that mean EVERYONE needs to go that route.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Give me some inflatable shoes and I'll walk on water //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

and yet you dont have any advice on what to set it up as........

by the way, does your arm hurt from patting yourself on the back so much?

You set it up like you want - thats my advice... whatever sounds best. There is a gain setting tutorial, the rest goes by ear.

Telling people to set their xover and SSF to anything specific is preposterous.

by the way, does your head hurt from bein up your arse?

your answer to this is somewhat true, and they can adjust accordingly, but since you lack the knowledge of how the q boost truly works, i suggest you just follow instead of trying to lead. it was alot easier to tell people what to set it at then why, which explains the generalized picture. of course people can dial it in how they choose, however with the picture, we can give him a basic setting for a starting point.

as jason (crxbumpn) has stated, once you set in your xover and subsonic, then you can adjust the qboost and gain a noticeable difference in output. the q boost function does not work properly untill you turn on the subsonic filter, then it boosts the frequencies set between the xover & subsonic. like i said before azzhat, there is a reason why i say the things i say. Ive used Orion for about 16 years now, ever since i turned 16. I know the in&outs of what I have used, and know how to get every lil bit out of the amps as possible, including turning the xover down and the subsonic up to narrow the boosted frequency path to about 5 frequencies only, which gains a substancial increase of power for competition reasons.

by the way, does your head hurt from bein up your arse?
I for one am not one of your faithful followers that have the monkey-see-monkey-do effect, so I wouldn't know how that feels. Ask one of your followers.......

Why would you need to boost a certain set of frequencies if your only playing one tone? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

I don't care if you built the amp... telling people to set the amp to a certain thing is a pot of BS. I run gain @ full, xover @ 45hz/24db, SSF off. Thats what works best for me... but your guidelines wouldn't get me anywhere close to that, might as well start from scratch.

Which is why I say simply follow the existing amp setting tutorials if you don't know how to setup an amp...

You dont have the monkey see monkey do effect, but you want every monkey on these forums to see your settings, and do just like em... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

If someone agrees with me, fine. Does that make them a follower? No.

wtf are you thinking by running your xover that low? thanks for showing your knowledge azzhat.

I had a bandpass setup that didn't do much over 45hz... hrm... It sounded best there.

You seriously think your way is the only way, and then you talk about me...
