Orion 2500D no louder than JL 500/1

liiiiiiike...wtf?
I just hooked up my Orion 2500D with 2 12in Alpine Type-R's in a ported box. I have the amp wired at 1ohm and it seems to be no louder than my friends 2 12in JL 3v2's with the JL 500/1 amp.

I just put the system in without upgrading the electrical system yet. Just making sure the amp i got from Ike sound worked or not. Could this problem be from running a stock alt. or just a bad amp?

ur electrical system prolly is not good enough for that 2500d @ 1 ohm. What is the stock rating of your alternator?
x2 I guarentee you are not getting the full output from that amp. But either way you can not compare the two set ups by saying the amp is the difference... Install is very important.

my alt is 105 amps.

box is ported.

I did part of the big three. I ran two 4 gauge wires from the battery to the ground.

Could it be that I just need a HO Alt.? I know Im getting one soon, but I thought my stock system running the amp at 4 ohms would at least be able to push out more than a 500watt JL amp. If JL amps are just that amazing then ill juts sell the Orion and get one. But im pretty sure thats not the case. I'd think their would be enough noticable difference from 500watts to 2500watts to tell that something is wrong.

Just to clear this up. At first i had the subs wired at 4ohms. Then wired them at 1ohm. Wasnt much of a difference when I did the change.

Well, another factor juts came up. The fuse im using is a 100 amp fuse. I hear this amp pulls up to 200 amps. So im guessing if the amp was really being pushed then it would blow the 100amp fuse pretty quick. So does this mean the alt. is giving under 100amps to my Orion?

go buy a digital multimeter and double check that you wired them correctly. Then check the voltage at the amp. Im suspecting a faulty ground....

When you drop the impeadance that much you should DEFINATELY notice a change in your car's electrical system - mainly severe voltage drop... You have DEF got issues with the ground or the powerwire going to the amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
