Orion 2500D no louder than JL 500/1

Your problem IS electrical. A new battery and 1/0 gauge is a REQUIREMENT. Then look for a HO alt. Your little 105 amp alt is not enough. It is supplying the car around 30-75 amps. Not much left for your amp. And it will only produce 105 @ full RPM's...
Exactly what ive been trying to say. My car takes up most of that 105amps anyways and leaves very little for my Orion. The Orion alone can pull up to 200 amps and its only getting about 30 amps im guessing right now.

What size alt. do you think I should get. I just called HO-alternators.com and they said that if I get a 300amp alt. then my car will have to run at about 2,000 RPMs constantly because any alt. that big wont kick in till that many RPMs.

He said a 250amp is the highest I should go. I was thinking of getting a 220amp alt. just to be safe. Is that legit?

its a '97 Pontiac Grand Prix GT.
HP is already on. Its not that though. Even without that on, it should be MUCh louder than it is now. Ive seen the movies of this set-up at thecaraudiobox.com and my subs def. aren't putting out like those are. At 2500watts that blazer's whole car was flexing about an inch. All im getting is a little rattle in my back compartment :\
The install in the blazer had nothing to do with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

haha i still need to order that box from you. I wanted to order it like a month ago, but I ended buying this amp that I can't even get to work. Im using my frineds box right now. Im a bit poor at the moment.

but what do you mean the install had nothing to do with it?

was being sarcastic hehe.

The install is 100% why the blazer did what it did. The type R's are very capable woofs... but to get that sort of performance takes one heck of an install.

haha nice...quesiton...what size alt. you running? Your system is the role model for my system. Your the reason i got this system haha.

I got a feeling that i need to have it professionally installed tho cause im doing more harm than good :\

fyi - it takes roughly 2x the current rating passing through a fuse for 5 seconds or more to blow a fuse...

Swap that 100anl for a 250anl or 300anl. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Your phase chekc out? Pop the terminals with a 9v and make sure they both do the same thing.

Not quite sure what your saying here.
take a 9v, tape a wire to each terminal, put each wire into each of the terminals on the terminal cup of the box.

the moment you make contact to complete the circuit the subs will pop and hold a position so long as the battery is energizing them. Be sure they both do everything in unison.

ohh alright. Honestly, do you think this amp will ever run right in a car running on a 250amp or less alt.?
it can, has, and will //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you have plenty of power wire + strong battery and don't demand 100% of the amp all the time... @ 1 ohm it'll run on a stock alt just fine.

are you kidding? thats ridiculous.

Im going to re-run a 0-gauge power cable to my distrubution block, do the big 3, and get a 200amp alt. I don't know what else to do.

Thier is no one near me who knows how to set this up either. The last person i asked at this store was the person who told me to run a single 4-gauge to my distribution block. I'm doing this all on my own and I just cant figure it out. I'm pretty sure im just gonna sell it and get a much smaller amp. This thing is ridiculous.

It angers me sooo much that my friend's 500watt system is as loud as my 2500watt system.

The answers your looking for are in the this thread my friend. (1) Wire upgrade(s) are a must, I would say your upgrade should be MORE than 4 gauge. (more like 0/1)

(2) You WILL need to upgrade your battery, you cant get around that, in fact a 2nd battery would be even better. When your amp pulls from your alternator, what ever the alternator cannot supply will be pulled from the batteries....

Also you never answered the question on wether or not you have BOTH sets of 4 gauge running to the amp, (there are 2 4gauge for power and 2 for ground)

Most people with 2k++ who don't have a h/o alternator have several batteries... (actually it's better to have both battery and h/o alternator but you said you were on a budget soo...)

Dude dont be depressed, but alot more thought goes into having 2k watts than 500 watts

Get the wiring done, upgrade your stock battery and get a 2nd battery, and you should blow him outta the water...

Yes, both sets of grounds and power cables are wired.

HO is getting ordered soon.

And im not trying to run at 2k+. I was planning on running the amp at 4ohms which is supposedly 1,100 watts.
