Ok, what would be better to have... So far (since it doesn't look promising for the group buy because im Canadian) I have this choice.

2x Alpine Type R 12' (600w RMS together) *No box*

- They will be hooked up to a 300w RMS amp EACH. So 1 amp powering each at 2 OHMS.

OR

1x Alpine Type X 10' (1000 RMS for it) *Custom Box for it too*

- It will be powered by 2 300w RMS amps together.

Both are the exact same price... which is a better deal?

Why buy 2 300 W amps? What are you looking for? SQ? SQL?
Mainly because I was cut a deal on them.. (from a local retailer) both together we're 100-150 bucks cheaper than the 1 500w RMS amp. Which do you think would be better? The two 300's or the 1 500?

Anways, i've heard the Type R's before. I liked them but I heard thier biggest flaw is when you meet the peak they tend to blow.

I'm lookin for alittle more SPL.. It's not that big of a deal to me. (But then again, i've only heard Audiobahns, Xplods, and JL's subs before)

Wow they must be charging you a crap load. 150 buck cheaper? whew they better be selling both to you for like 75 or 100 bucks each. I just bought three 800w amps for 215 each. I would personally buy two one amp because sometimes if you have the gains set slightly different on two amps it could mess up the speakers but you don't have that problem when using one amp... well most of the time. But if you were to use two amps in a common chamber i would recommend that you use a digital volt meter to ensure that the gains are set exactly the same. But you could easily do both with no problem. An advantage to having to amps though is the fact that if one (god forbid) goes bad then you have another and you can still have some bass when with one amp, when that amp goes so does all of your bass.

Well, about 900 bucks for each system (amps/subs). And I want one of the two I stated above. I'm going with the two amps. Thanks for the information.

So, the two 12' Type R's over the one 10' Type X (custom box too)? (Either way both will be powered by 2 300w RMS amps)

Meet the peak? I pushed my Type R with ~700W for about 5 months everyday with no problems. Still is in excellent condition.
RMS??? Really?? I heard the new ones (2005) are 500rms too..

you aren't really giving the type X a lot of power and I don't know if I'd hook up an amp to each voice coil on it. i'd go with the type R's simply because you could do 1 amp - 1 sub, and (2) of them will perform much better with 300 rms each than the (1) type x would with 600 rms total.

wow $900 is too much. overpowering usually doesn't blow subs, it's because of clipping.

Keep in mind that's Canadian. (Like 750-800 tops American) and keep in mind this is a local dealer not the internet. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Ok, from the looks of it i'll go with the R's.. Thanks for the input. Wish I coulda got an Alpine amp or two for the Type X. Not one person in my area has one... anywhere..
