Opinions Wanted: What is the make/model of the best sounding tweets?

I heard some Morel Supremo's today, and I liked them... have not heard the Dyn's yet... have heard Focal (K2P, not the current Utopia's, just the older ones), Hertz (not Mille's YET), even the Morel Supremo's did not thrill me (running off a Mac 4006M amp, with Mac HU)... waiting to hear the Hertz Mille ML280s's ... anyone thing else I should try to listen to? How do the Dyn's (MD102 I believe) sound like compared to the Morel Supremo Picolo (which is what I would end up using as the regulare Supremo is too big //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif).... Thoughts? Suggestions? Opinions? I am more "sensitive" to tweets, mids come next (the Morel SW6 and SW10 are very nice), subs even about as important as mids.... well, midrange and trebble are of the utmost important... thanks for your asistance!

Hm.. interesting idea //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ...

Buy a pair of B&W 683's rip the tweeters out, that's a good start on a budget.

That's the problem.... the higher end stuff is hard to find, to actually be able to listen to... sure, allot of shops say "we can order them.... " or they might even have them in stock, but not on a board, or in a car to listen to!

I think you just need to listen to as many as you can.

diyma has a LOT of tweeter tests/reviews, so do some reading over there. What "sound" do you prefer in a tweeter? I'm VERY happy with my Vifa's, but you gotta get them on axis. Very full sound to them, not bright or tinny sounding at all, don't color the music, etc... May be too laid back for some though...

These are generally considered some of the best Scan-Speak R2904/7000-05 Ring Radiator and Scan-speak D3004/6600-00 AirCir.

I like the Alpine Vifa derevative the XT-19 needs to be on axis though. Seas Neo Alum and I have been inpressed with the CDT DRT-25 Silk. I really liked the Rainbow Cal26.

The MD102 is suppossed to be a step up from the MD100 from people that have had both have said. I have yet to hear them to compare.

DIY mobile audio... looks like a good site, thanks for the tip //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif!

What sound? Well, that is just it... no sound... the speaker I like best is the one that does not make any sound //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ... All tweeters seem to exibit some character that makes me think "ok, this one is bright, this one is... whatever" ... The Morel Supremo's (as far as speakers I have heard recently) had the least character of thier own.... But, then again, I was listening on axis, off a board... so, probably sound very different in my car, behind the factory speaker grill, off axis... I do try to listen to tweeters in the stores off axis, on axis, move around to see what they sound like in different positions... I probably should be putting my speaker from my car over the front of the tweeter, and move off axis, to see what affect the grill will have, eh?

I bet speakercity has the scan speaks ... I could probably listen to them there.... I have heard good things about Rainbow... not aware of any dealers though around here...

Well the only dealer around here in in City of Industry, which is over 1 hr away without traffic, I just called them (yeah, open on a sunday!), they said they can order the Rainbows, but they do not stock them! ARG! They carry Image Dynamics, and Planet Audio.... have not had much chance to hear the Image Dynamics.... well, atually, if they only have 1 tweeter, then I did hear them @ the Galpin Auto Sports center off the 405 yesterday.... nice to hear the Arc audio amp as well! I can not say I heard anything about the ID that bothered me.... I guess I did not listen that closely... hmm.. Is there someplace I can get Rainbow mail order, that I can return if I don't like them?

Have you auditioned any rainbows yet, cal 28's for the tweets

- Based on what you are saying, you should check out Scanspeak... Morel and Dynaudio are very simalar... They have been known for some of the most consistently good and low distortion tweeters around for more than a decade. The Founder/designer of Dyn moved on some years ago to start Skanning/scanspeak, so scan speak could be thought of as the latest technology/latest models of the group.

I think Alpine has a top of the line system called F1 status which is made my skanning.
