Opinions Please?

I have an MTX 1501D (Thunder). Puts out 1500W.

Recently blew my 2 oldddd Kenwoods 12" (fried voice coil) and am looking for a replacement.

Stumbled across these Rockford Fosgates P2D4-12 for $84 each and a 3-year warranty for $25 each.

Specs:

800W, 4-Ohm, 400RMS

Do you guys think this combination would work? I realize that my amp may be a little powerful for these subs, but I plan to turn it down a decent amount as I own a small Nissan Maxima and do not need my entire car rocking, just some nice clean thumping bass. Opinions? Thanks

Note: I realize there are subs out there such as Kenwood Performance and Kicker-Comp, however I find their ratings to be skewed and know Rockford usually puts out genuine ratings. I am also on a limited budget.

wait for black friday sales These well walk all over your other choices in build quality, and price performance ratio. Will also handle every last watt that mtx amp can pump out and more. 2.5 inch voice coils, lots of Xmax and stronger motor then the others.

See I was thinking that, but upon calling many local stores they are all offering me subwoofers that cost a minimum of $150 each. I'm spending about $200 on these and don't even want to spend that much lol. I figure with a three year warranty even if they do blow I can get them fixed and back to me in a few weeks.

you'll still have to pay shipping when you get RMA'd so you'll be sh*t out of luck with money saving there. Item exchange is free but shipping the woofer to the company will kill you. You are paying 100 dollars for a 1.5 inch voice coil woofer that barely handles 2/3 your mtx's power compared to a 2.5 inch voice coil sub that can eat up 1000 watts each daily no problem. Its a completely different league between the two subs.

The smarter and more obvious choice is get a beefy woofer that will not blow up in the first place and invest in a Digital Multi-meter and set your gains properly(most likely the main reason why you blew your old subs in the first place) There is 1 year manufacturer's warranty along with it anyways.
