Bought a Alpine swr-1222d

So i found this sub on craigslist, he said it was DVC 4. I went to look at it, it turn out it is DVC 2, but it was in an enlosure, and he threw in an older 300W alpine amp all for $100. This being said, i ate that ***** up. Now i've got a kicker DX600.5, which at best is going to supply it 150W, which is weak saying this thing goes over 500W RMS. This weekend i'm fixing a Hifonics 1200.1 zeus. This will give it 400W@4 or 1200@1. Would it be safe to hook it up @1? i know it's a lot over the RMS rating, but this thing seems like a beast. As long as i start with the gain at 0, will i be okay?

Yea i put 1500Rms on a pair of 1222ds. Just don't clip it.. they can take a lot of abuse.

whats your electrical like? and what kind of box is it in? im asking this because

1. the zues don't do rated

2. they rate their amps at 14.4V they drop output quite a bit under that.

3. You'll have box rise which raises your impedance.

so its safe to say you'll probably be giving them more like 800watts so you'll be fine. but even with that you can clip so be careful setting gain

My electrical is sub par righ now. Before the Zeus goes in I'm going to do the big three and run 0g ofc to the trunk. Later I will get a high performance battery, I can't afford a new alt since they are >$500 for subies. And the enclosure is mediocre. Maybe .75 cubes after the displacement of the woofer. Going to use it until I have the time to build one. But I'll be safe and use an O-scope to set the gain
