Thats all you needed to say thank you. Good luck on the build It should sound nice. My point wasnt saying larger dont sound good, it was that you dont have to have huge subs to have lots of bass and SQ. All you need to do is look at the MQ on sub specs, that is how you know the difference on size and keeping up with media. And it isnt science or math to know if you have a musical ear at all, that 4 18" subs with Metallicas "One" will not sound like it will on 4 10s or 12s. It just wont. It may go deeper, but when the solo comes up in 64 count notes with the drums, it wont. It can damage the subs as well.I'm a pretty interested in why you think larger drivers sound worse than 10's and 12's as well? I had 2 old school kicker solo-baric 15's recently and those sounded fantastic. Not a lot of people know about passive radiators and the reason I want to use them is because I want something a little different that not many people have. I'd like to be loud as well as have great sq, so I'd like as much cone area as possible too, I like the sound of ported boxes a little better than sealed but I don't have much space so I usually run sealed anyway. I think my new setup w/ passive radiators takes care of most of my problems. I also had a tc sounds oem 10 w/ passive and it was pretty impressive.
It did. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gifWill this thread continue to deliver the lulz?
Your on drugs. You prolly wernt even born yet. And seeing how he and I are the same age, he would tell you the same if you said that to him. His radiator horns were not in the trunk either. Big difference. He also had 2 12s and 2 15s - not 4 fkkn 18's that cant keep up. He also is not retired. He still has drag shows. His work wasnt because of radiators it was what he did with Speakerworks and Rane that made his car famous. If it was in a ice cream truck it would have been legendary - least that what he said.
The Buick utilized a 6 speaker setup, with two 15" subwoofers in an AP enclosure handling bass frequencies, two 12" midwoofers in the rear quarter panels handling midbass frequencies and two WaveGuides handling all upper frequencies.

Because active can be tricky at time bro. I hear ya on these subs man. When I take my subs out for a run, the 18s and 15s start lagging and running out of steam after about 5 mins while my tens can keep running all day. ****ing bloated fatass subs ****.ya why passive? And yes he wants SQ what 15 or even 18" can accuratly keep up with SQ test media?
Like you know. You weren't even born yet. You are regurgitating misinformation posted on the net, this fool KNOWS THE MAN.Dude......WTF are you talking about? Who is this "he" you are referring to? Richard Clark? He had nothing to do with the original build. He bought the car from the Holdaways after it had become a champion many times over. The 12's were used for midbass dumb ***, and the 15" were in Aperiodic enclosures IN THE GOD **** TRUNK

Would you like me to stop now, or do you want me to chop off the rest of the legs of that horse your on? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I was wondering this too. He should dial it down to about 8 watts of tube distortion instead. Now that's SQ yo!SQ?
2500-3000W?
I missed something...
No no no. That's "Warmth". //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifBecause active can be tricky at time bro. I hear ya on these subs man. hint: turn those 18's down to blend properly, and due to their massive cone area they will require very little excursion to reach adequate listening levels. In other words, those 18's wouldn't have to work nearly as hard as the tens to "keep up".
Also, you simply saying 'they just wont keep up' is not giving any reasoning beyond ":because I say so" and that's just not good enough around here.
I stuffed all of Aerosmith in my wall. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gifIt's cause those much larger and heavier cones can't possibly keep up with the smaller lighter cones used in tweeter, mids, and midbass...........oh wait guess that means midbass with much larger heavier cones can't keep up with a mid with much smaller, and lighter cones, and I guess that means mids with much larger heavier cones can't keep up with tweeters with much smaller, and lighter cones. **** this is just like a never ending circle of audio doom. Those cars thought to be the best ever created, that break all of the guru's rules must have been hiding live bands under the hood or something //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
18" placebos lolDan dId you ever do SQ in meca for shits and giggles? Reason I ask was last year at finals, I helped tune up a guy's truck, with 2 18's right behind the seat. By mistake I turned the subs off. The first judge got in with the subs off and said the bass was pulling to the rear lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
