Typically better than pre-fab sealed boxes for output, but can be easily put to shame by a proper custom build box as per sub requirements and vehicle.

That would depend on the sub and application along with what goals you have.

@Buck ; designed my box for a single 15" L7 Kicker. its 4.25cubes @ 33hz. His price for blueprints was next to free. hes pretty swamped to turn around time may play a factor, but a great designer

goals meaning, what kind of response are you looking for from your sub stage?

There is a list of things you will need to get a quote for most of the good designers/builders.

A rough idea would be needing around 4ft3 net give or take a bit.

everybody in my family dose construction so i was thinking about building it myself is there a calculator for box designs online (so i can get the perfect measurements)

You would be better of getting a design from someone with cut sheet, and building it yourself. Many online box calculators are off.

Basically do you wanna dominate the low end? Do you want people to hurt with the 40 hz range? Do you want a mix of good lows and upper range? Or are you strictly going for numbers on the meter?
