I have almost saved enough money to purchase some new equipment for my car.

Please give me your opinions and/or experience with these items.

Viper 1100.5 (refurb) 175.00

5 Channel amp

Rated Power @ 4 ohm: 75 x 4 (ch1-4)

Rated Power @ 4 ohm: 275 x 1 (sub)

Rated Power @ 2 ohm: 125 x 4 (ch1-4)

Rated Power @ 2 ohm: 400 x 1 (sub)

Rated Power @ 1 ohm: N/A (ch1-4)

Rated Power @ 1 ohm: 600 x 1 (sub)

Seems like the right power for the job and I like the idea of a 1 amp install, clean and easy.

Alpine Type R 12' 115.00

2+2 dvc

500w rms

1500w max

I believe the "hype" and I have heard some of these in cars in my town and they seem to be a good woofer.

Phoneix Gold R6.5Comp 43.00

70w Rms

140w Max

These fit my car and my budget......also they are the right power range and from what I understand PG is a top notch company.

With this set up I would run the amp @ 4 ohms on the front 2 channels to the comps(75w) and not use the rear 2 channels(maybe I'll use them in the future) and the sub channel would be run @1 ohm giving 600 watts to the sub.

Please feel free to suggest substitions and please criticize......//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I could just get a set of 6.5 coaxs and keep my tweeters I have now...probably for about the same money.

Please recomend some coaxs in this price range.

also I was quoted around 60.00 for a custom ported box made by a local shop

Box will be tuned and ported to specs for speaker and made from 3/4" high density particle board.

Is this a good price?

not too shaby. might be better with mdf

He said its better tha MDF because you don't have to pre drill and it is not as flexable......

Suggestions on the equipment please.
pfft :p but its not rly that much worse or anything -- for car don't worry about it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif $60 is a good deal there -- nice to see there are local shops that are cool...

actually he quoted me 60 on a single 15 box, but I figure a single 12 would be the same money maybe even less.

He also offered me what I think is a good price on a Memphis PR15 BNIB w/ 3 year warranty for 106.00 + tax.

Seems like a decent shop I may go there for an Alpine HU when the time comes.
