Opinions on Phoenix Gold Amps?

*8-16ga for speaker

*1/0ga for amp

*Get a 1/0 to 4ga reducer for your ground and positive amp-side terminals

*Decent RCA's (no Scosche or Hugfen shit)

*Use whatever is easy to work with for remote

*Do the Big 3 mod if you haven't already, use at least 1/0ga

*And remember...just because it SAYS 16ga (or 12ga, 10ga, etc.) doesn't mean it is. Just because wire A is thicker than wire B doesn't mean the wire is a larger gauge. Pay close attention to the ratio of the exterior rubber/plastic composite to the wire thickness.

If that doesn't answer all your wiring questions, then you're fucked //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Yah, I am fucked because I don't understand why you say use 4 gauge wire. If the amp "says" it needs 2 gauge wire, obviously 4 gauge is going to carry less power. Are you saying that the 4 gauge wire carries enough power to power the amp without a problem?

Nowhere in my post did I say you 4ga wire //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

However, I did say get a 1/0 to 4ga reducer. That reducer is a solid piece, unlike the many strands that you get in wire. All it does is reduce the size of the wire to a more dense solid piece, and keeps the continuity consistent. Think of it as a 1/0 to 4ga SIZE reducer, not a 1/0 to 4ga POWER reducer.

okay, I'll give you some.

My other question would be. I want to use a distribution block. How do I incorporate that if I'm using 0 gauge wire and need 2 gauge at the amp?

Battery

l 0 gauge

Disribution Block

l 0 gauge l 0 guage

0-4 reducer

Amp

Is this how I should run it? It's hard to find a distribution block that goes from a 0 gauge input to (2-4) 0 gauge outputs. This is all complicated to me, I'm new, sorry.

Why do u need a distro block? Just run the 1/0ga from the battery to the amp and plop the reducer at the end of the wire. Now put that end in the amp and tighten it down.
I was thinking in the future I may want to add another amp. What your saying would work. I did find a stinger t block that divides a 0 gauge wire into (2) 0 gauge outputs, i guess that would work.

Sure, are you talking about adding a speaker amp? 4ga should be plenty good for a speaker amp. Maybe you can find a 1/0ga distro block which end with at least one 4ga. But you could also make the 4ga work in that dual-1/0ga distro block.

Yes, a speaker amp. find a distro block w/ a 0 and 4 gauge output? I think that'd be hard to find.
