Opinions on Phoenix Gold Amps?

I'm looking to run 1000-1200 rms to two alpine type r's. Looking for an amp under $300. What's my best bet?

MB Quart Onyx/Discus. AQ costs more but doesn't do anything more.

Do I need 2 gauge power and ground? That's what the mb quart amp says.

If an amp needs a 4 gauge power wire. Does running a 4 gauge power wire into a distribution block - then to 8 gauge work?

Ah, but it can! Discus does 2-300 more than its rated power, and it's about $50-100 cheaper. AQ looks better than Discus though, but I think Onyx looks just as good as AQ.

So you get at least 300wrms more (given it only does rated and no more) for the same price.

That wire is very flexible (as the picture shows) and super cheap. It is good quality wire as well, although if you did decide to go for very high power applications, the kolossus fleks might be a better choice. You will want 1/0 now, because you will end up needing it in the future, trust me.

You may need a 1/0ga reducer for it to fit in that amp, but those are cheap so no worries.

I'd like to buy a amp kit. The amp says I need 2 guage wire for power/ground. Would running 0 guage to a distribution block and then 4 guage to the amp work?

Also, what guage speaker wire should I run to the subwoofers (2 alpine type r)?

The older amps were real good, the titaniums were nice and I believe the octanes were decent as well....the rest...meh.

yes that will work just fine..thats how i run my amps 0 to dristro to 4
