Right now iam running 2 12'' type r's and im going to tone it down a bit / downgrade, whats your opinion on the 05 Comp Vrs or the L5? i have a jbl 1200.1 and i still want a fair bit of bump so ill probably run them in a ported enclosure. Do you think i should get 1 type r or go with some kickers?

Thanks Alot

??? so you want to downgrade sound quality? cause its likely IMO that the comp VRs will get a little louder than th type Rs and the L5s definately will.. so you want more bass? im kinda confused..

regardless.. kicker makes some pretty decent stuff and im sure neither will disappoint you much ported.

i have a friend who has two comp vr 12's sealed in a q logic box and they bump he is running it off of a 800 watt profile amp. i kinda underestimated profile until i heard the amp in action and it was pretty decent. so imo comp vr's are good to go. i got him both of of his comp vr's for 120 total that included shipping & handling.

i don't like the sound of anything kicker has to offer. jmo, but their subs have little to no sq. unless you like blatting and tensil lead hits. i would maintain the alpines if those were the only 2 choices. or cop an eq and just level out your low frequencies.

the woofer has no SQ, just the enviroment it's put in..

"the woofer has no SQ, just the enviroment it's put in.."

i agree. this woofer (kicker) has no (poor) sq. but that's regardless of environment. my first subs were a pair of some no name brand that i purchased from some electronics sale at the atlanta civic center. you couldn't make those things reproduce sound with quality if they were installed by scott buwalda himself in the most extravagant enclosure available.

w/regards to kickers, i've heard quite a few in numerous applications. disliked them all. the few that i have owned had poor build integrity as well (although, unlike the poster, i AM an aggressive user).

however, i agree. install has a significant influence on systems. i'm not discounting that.
