Opinions on Alpine PDX Amplifiers

I'm very close to ordering a PDX 5 channel for $350 or so. Planning on bridging the four channels for a set of components up front (150 x 2) and using the fifth channel (300 x 1) for a 10" or 12" sub in a small sealed enclosure. Main reason I'm planning on getting this amp is due to its small footprint.

Tell me your thoughts/experiences with the Alpine PDX's.

Thanks!

really nice amps the size is the best thing about the. the definately make rated power.

if you not looking to crack the windshield, and be nice to you charging system, I would say 100% yes

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that someone tried to bridge the pdx5 for some comps and could not for some reason, might want to check why.Maybe I'm wrong though

I have the PDX 5. Its amazing....birthsheet says 101x4 and 401x1

Its awesome!

I'm not using the sub channel but the 4 channels are awesome!

SUPER SMALL!!!!

Yup that's what I thought too. I was looking over the specs @ Alpines website and flipped through the owners manual and it doesn't state anywhere about bridged channels.

I believe this is correct. A local Alpine shop told me that as far as the PDX line of amps go, the 2.150 can operate 1/2 channel, the 4.100 & 4.150 can operate 2/3/4 channel but the PDX-5 can only be operated 5 channel. You may want to look into this before you take the jump. Let me know if you learn otherwise.

The PDX amps are class D and somewhat of an odd design because impedance does not affect output. 2ohms or 4 ohms they have the same output. I think JL mades some amps like this as well. you get x amout of watts and that is that.

so there is not reason to bridge anything.

I am looking at them right now do to the fact my corvette has limited space. Small and light. I may run the 4.100 and then get the 600w for subs though. I would like to run the pdx-5 but am worried the sub channel might not cut it.
