here is the deal, i have alot of amps. i need to make my mind up as to what i will use for a sub amp. i have either a ppi pc 2350 which is around 1600 watts of a/b power at 4ohms. or i could use a us amps merlin d2 that puts out 1900+ watts of class d power at 1 ohm. in a way, im thinking i dont need 1600-1900 watts!

im actually having a hard time figuring out which amp to power the 15"xxx with:crazy: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i know most people will say the merlin d2, i know this. but im almost thinking of selling it! the ppi pc amps are no joke! very clean a/b power! theyre built extremely well, and many people say that the power class amps are some of the best amps ever made. the 2350 was $1500 new, and that was back in 1997! im just having a hard time making my mind up!! its very frusterating!

my other option is to sell them all and just get two new matching amps.

i know ultimately i have to make my own mind up, but what are your opinions?

well know that the PPI PC2350 can be sold on Ebay for $480 shipped. I just did it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Yeah I bought mine, and sold it a week and a half later for the same price. I lost money to shipping.

Keep the USAmps and sell the PC2350.

Put the PC series amps on for a Buy-It-Now at just above a fair price and auction with a relatively high reserve. it costs a lot but you'll make sure you don't get screwed. I say just above a fair price because PC series amps are hard to come by. Lots of people are looking for them because of this. They'll pay more because of this as well.

Choose wisely //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

oh ya, i saw a pc2350 selll for $600+ about 2 weeks ago!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

WOW! I wish i could have done that!

Anyway- I have two Ascendant Audio Avalanche 15's...

DVC2 ohm...

well the amp does like 1600 at 4ohms, 800x2 at 2ohms, and 400x2 at 4ohms...

well see four 2 ohm coils can be wired to 1/2, 2, and 8.

like so the whole set would get 800RMS and i would not be using the amp to it's fullest

so i bought two PPI PCX2200's.

Yeah, I saw that too Matthew, I thought it was on the high side ,but then I have seen big Art series go for stupid money too. I like the Power Class also, great power and smooth good looks. The Merlin will be less strain on your electrical system, PPI has strong clean power, can't really go wrong with either.

What are you doing with the PCX 2200's ?If you've got the electrical system to handle one PCX2200 on each sub...(each one doing 4 ohm mono), I would go that way. "Very" nice amps. (I love class a/b's on subs...). The PCX2200 is one of my all-time favorite amplifiers.

Yeah actually i have a 180A alternator (excessive amperage, for sale) but i'm looking to upgrade.

i have a pcx440 for Koda 8's

i have a pcx4125 for HD-62 component set (active)

i have two pcx2200's, one for each avalanche.

I only wish that they had steeper slopes than 12db/octave, perhaps variable

but I'll be fine i'm sure

One PCX2200 on each sub is perfect. The 12db slope on the amp is fine also...if you need steeper..use your hu's crossover..(or your processor). Man...you have the ideal sub set-up!

I also have a 180 amp high-output alternator that I have not installed yet...how does your's handle all that current ? I am planning on trying a PCX2200 on each of my SoundSplinter RL-P 12's....or ED12A's....should be awesome. Does that alternator handle everything well ?
