Going to be installed in 2002 vette.

I already have, but willing to change:

-Alpine 7873 HU

-Diamond Audio amps D7054 (50X4) / D7401 (800X1)

-Alpine Type R 6.5" components w/ silk dome tweeter SPR-17LS (front stage)

-Alpine Type R 6.5" coaxial (rear)

-Custom box .93 cu. feet vol. sealed

-(1) Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2 12"

.....or go all out for a JL 12w7 or Alpine Type R 12" due to my small box?

Give opinions please on whole setup, what part would you change?

I'd almost get nicer components... and look at the diamond d9(formally the tdx) instead of a w7.
Thanks...I'm looking for criticism. Learn from others' mistakes. I can buy new parts, but I don't want to have to do 2 installs in the end.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Go for some soundsplinter RLP or RLS subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif -- the XXX and Avalance are good too but not in production...

I'd get better components...

Morel Elate 9.1's in the front;) -those doors love big mids, and they sound hella good IMO in that car. First elate set with the 8.75" mids I heard was in a Vette like yours a few months ago. Rockin'!!
True, but I already have the door speaker plate adaptors to fit a 6.5" and 2" hole.

At this point most people seem to feel OK on the system except for the door speakers and maybe the sub I have? What does every one think should be replaced first? Most I'm wanting to spend is $300+/- for components and $400+/- for one sub.

a 9" starts beaming pretty low -- like 700hz or so?... so you have a very narrow -- uneven -- power response.... possibly a 3 way setup... Depends on your budget rly...

3-way setup in front is nice, but will not fit in the door w/o notching the fiberglass a little. I had to do this to my last vette. So now I'm staying w/ a 6.5" component set.

I feel there are a lot better choices than the HX2 sub I have if I'm willing to spend around $400. Remember I only have .93 cu feet to work with.

I thought you were selling both of your Diamond amps....I love how people are already reccomending the RL-S, even though they have never heard it yet. Or have any reviews on it yet.
Well possibly because I've been talking to mike extensively about... many things -- there are some serious pitfalls with the RLS along with the upsides... The group delay is a bit high -- a large box is required -- but the THD is non existent and .... there is so much xmax you need ~2500 watts to use it all... granted this is doable with a 1200 watt or so RMS amp...

I'm working all in theory with a LMT design with less xmax -- more efficient and a more standard box size...

The RLS would be good IB... but not in ~ a 1 cuft box.

and the RLS is out...

I think I'm going with DIAMOND AUDIO D612D2 sub. I just called their tech support and they said the D9 sub would NOT sound as good for my application (amp/small space)...They only cost $154 on the net too and need 1.25 cu feet:veryhapp: !

FOR SALE NOW:

(2) RF punch HX2 12" subs in perfect condition

-$154 lol

Doh! I forgot what amp you have. The D6(M6 from before) sound sweet, I'm sure you will be happy with it.
