opening a car audio shop

my friend in town is opening his own audio/detailing shop. he wants me to help out and promote his shop at shows and stuff. what i wanna know is what companies are good to start off with. If anyone has any knowledge plz help me out. thanks

Eclipse, Alpine, Image dynamics, DD, Arc, Kicker, FI, Zapco.

There's a lot.

Try for the stuff that sells the best. and a few lesser known high end items.

Mainstream for the bills and as stated the lesser known high end guys for the show worthy and experienced installs.

Kicker,Memphis those are good for "mid level" mainstream.

Arc,Hertz, Zapco is good for "high end"

Sundown, AA, is good for "unknown" but GREAT product.

start small and grow. dont go in over your head. Good luck going direct, you will have to start off with distributors. Call up the companies you want to carry and ask for distributors that are close to you. Good Luck

overhead?? make sure there is money for rainy days. Dont expect any business to make any kind of profit for atleast 2 years. And with the recession, you better have your shit together. Business plan, money for a rainy day, etc........

Some may laugh with this suggestion, but brands like Dual or Boss. I'm sure as a dealer they would be super cheap. And for someone who is getting their first setup, these low priced equipment may be all that they can afford. Plus you can use it to push the other equipment that is a little more expensive and better.

But basically if prices are too much for some of the amateurs, they will just walk back out the store.
