One more wire question.........

yep
I have a hifonics 1606d. Im going to be running it at 1 ohm, so around 1600 watts. Would 4 guage be okay for this? I ordered 2 guage last night, but they emailed me today and said the fuse that i ordered was on backorder. I told them to take that off of the order and they cancelled the whole order. Id rather not deal with them (millionbuy.com) or pay so much for 1/0 guage when i dont really need it. The fuse rating on the amp is 160a if that helps. Will true 4 guage wire be fine to run for now, or should i just get 2 or 1/0 guage? Thanks

I bet most of that is insulation and not actual wire.

here is a quote pic of 0awg comaprison

from left to right...

Voodoo 1/0awg, Audiopipe 1/0awg, Q Power 1/0awg, KnuKonceptz 1/0awg, Soundquest 1/0awg, Q Power 1/0awg, Kicker 1/0awg

Well that sucks. I guess ill just get a 1/0 guage from knukonceptz or cardomain. I guess the big 3 will have to wait //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Well than i need to buy a fuse, fuse holder, and terminals. Expensive things ****:(
well if you are doing the big 3,you should use the biggest wire. and you will need a big fuse big fuseblock for 0awg. so its all up to you.I say if you are goin to do the big 3 use oawg wire and a 300A fuse and be done with it and forget about ever having to upgrade again.

I know your right, i just dont have all that much money now. Im trying to save for a transmission, but I keep spending it. But itll be worth it when all four of my perfect 12.1's get here thursday. Buy one get one free with a 3 year warranty from crutchfield //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. 2 Guage would be fine on the big 3, right? Anythings better than stock. And would i really need that high of a fuse? My alternator is a stock 140a.

Thanks for your help.

2 guage would be fine just leave ur original wires in and the 2 guage to them..the more the merrier, and i belive the fuse should go with the size of the wire no?
yes the fuse should be the biggest for that wire. many people will tell you to get the biggest fuse you "need" when you can get the biggest fuse for that wire and forget about upgrading that fuse.your amp has its own set of fuses.

Its not completly neccesary to fuse the alt, to battery wire, is it? Itd probably be a good idea, but if i had it for a little bit while i buy a fuse and holder, itll be fine im guessing.
It is necessary your existing oem wires has a fuse. its there for a reason. Make sure you fuse it or one day you will be sorry when your car is burnt to crisp
