One more wire question.........

It is necessary your existing oem wires has a fuse. its there for a reason. Make sure you fuse it or one day you will be sorry when your car is burnt to crisp
Some do, some don't. My factory wire ran from the battery to the alt by way of the starter. No fuse there. You want the starter to get as much current as possible. It isn't entirely neccessary to fuse the alt to battery wire. It can't hurt but it is required.

It really depends on how long the wire is.

I have a four foot 0ga run to the fused distro at my firewall, and a seven or eight foot run of 4awg to the trunk distro.

As you can see in the above pic, Knuke for the win.

get the kicker package for about $100 out the door and no more looking back for life. You will always have the wire and no more wondering if you need to upgrade wire, its the top. comes will the all the stuff you need. And it cheaper than Knu wire package and comes with more accessorie stuff.

I guess ill just get a wiring kit now and see if I have a lot of dimming. Im guessing I am because with a 2 channel bridged @ 4 ohms with 300 watts, i had mass dimming. 1600 watts @ 1 ohm should cause some damage.

wow,if u get mass dimming at 300. dont you dare hook up 1600watts. get a second batt or a new HO alty first.

hmm..i learn something new, how old is your car? But still to me it is a must and i say MUST to fuse any sort of wire that is carrying atleast 12V of power. Look at the other guys thread whos car caught fire because his positive terminal was too high and it touched the hood and started a fire.

My car is a 2003. If the wire goes through anything where it might get cut or crimped, read firewall, then I fully agree that it needs to be fused as close to the source of the current as possible.

No fuse in the world would have helped if the pos terminal of the battery touched the hood. No fuse between the battery and its post //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

yeah, but still a good idea so the current wont spread too far

Well it wasnt crazy dimming. Just to see how much it dimmed, i turned on the headlights, interior lights, and everything i could. It dimmed but it was at idle also, so mass dimming might be a little exaggerated.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Im going to get one of those voltmeters that plug into the cigarette lighter to see if i have any charging system problems.

This one is not to plug in cigg lighter ut you can hard wire this and keep tabs on it all the time
