yea i was browsing the USD site install gallerys...and was wondering what everyone thought on this.....do you think it would be worth it to do an oldskool style setup like for example Richard Clarkes Grand national build (i know i can probably NEVER match the quality or anything) but would it be worth it to make the install atleast look like that....stealth setup...with big sound..12inch midwoofers and 15inch subwoofers lol i just think it looks badass and i may try something like it with my civic...but i have no smarts on EQs Crossovers processing or anything lol

Is it worth it? Hmmm, only you can answer that. But realize placing 10-15" mids in a car is no small task. There's a reason thsoe old installs are famous, cuz they were hard to do. Personally, I wouldn't suggest it until you feel more confident than to make statements like "i have no smarts on EQs Crossovers processing or anything" but you never know, you might be one of the few to have the abilitity, time, resources and dedication to do it.

okay i found a woofer that ranges from like 50hz to 2500hz....what crossover would i use? and what hz range does a midbass play at

What 12" woofer did you find?

Also, if horns are up front...why would the midbass be in the rear quarter panel? I always thought that you needed to have the mid-bass up front with the horns. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

If I had the time and money, I would go for it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

its a dayton woofer, i cant find any else with that range

Man, I know that you are very anxious and want to do this install, but I sugest that you read up on Crossover design and Processing before you start. Also though you may be proficent with fiberglass it takes alot more than basic skills to glass a 12 inch driver into a door. IMHO this isnt worth it. The reason i feel this way is because you are asking about crossovers, you need to be able to determine which crossovers you need on your own to do an extensive install like this. SQ is not easy...you have to be very determined to make a perfect install. IMO from the info you gave in the first post you really need to do some more research before you start.

i am gonna try and learn about xovers, and proccessing before i try this install and im gonna build new doorpanels for the car to fit the 12inch woofers in

Could do an active setup.... x-over the subwoofer frequencies @ ~70-80Hz... The midbass/midrange frequencies up to ~2khz... then get on some horns for everything above that.

Except that's a pretty lousy frequency range layout for a horn based system. Horns should play as low as allowable (one of their advantages over conventional tweeters), and they will certainly play well below 2khz. 1khz-1.2khz is more like it, depending on the actual horn and/or body (CD1pro's will play lower yet).
