Old vs. New II

With all due respect....if you need to get high to listen to bands like The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin to really appreciate the music...you have problems.
And that is from someone who doesn't mind a little cannabis himself.

edit: Ehron beat me.

I really, really enjoy listening to Floyd. I listened to the last half of The Dividing Bell while high, though.... It was a completely different experience.

That's the only time I've really been high.

Alliance is 35-40 minutes southeast of Akron, 35 west of Youngstown. Only two cities near me I think either you or Ng would know of, location wise. Little shithole of a town, but eh.

I need to get a turntable, and my two Sansui amps fixed. I really want to hear these vinyls, since I'm told they're a whole other sound than CD's. Do you know of any Ohio based shops Joe, or anyone who has experience with them? My dad left me these amps, so I don't want to just hand them to some Joe shmoe electronic guy.

Rus is another band I've recently realized to have amazing reording, on top of their music. Everything can be heard and "seen" to be somehwere on stage. I've been listening to them lately on my way to school. Once you give their songs a few run through's, the lyrics makes much more sense, very heavy on metaphors and symbolism.

And yea, I don't need to get high to enjoy my music. I'm sure it could help, but I certainly don't need it. Pink Floyd got me through my roughest times just fine.

Uumagumma is the one album I cannot find anywhere. I rarely go to Canton*25 minute drive, closest cd store to me*. I can't find it used, and haven't even seen it at Best Buy. I have a spot reserved for it, and a few other oddities in my Floyd collection, in my cd changer.

Psychedelic Floyd is excellent in its own right. Ummagumma is one of the most underrated Floyd albums by far.
The first couple times I listened to it, I didn't like it. But, it has grown on me when I get it out periodically...

I know where Alliance is now...

I must say that I don't know of anyone who would fix/work on those amplifiers... Sorry...

That's exactly why I think it's under-rated....you either need to like psychedelic music or you need to listen to it a few times. So for most, it's not easily accessible.

I thank my brother who got me to give it a second chance.

He listens to super random stuff sometimes. Rick James then Pink Floyd then Rap. It's amusing...

Thats awesome that there are so many guys here like the classics.

Awesome instance: I work at a Deli in San Luis Obispo where CalPoly SLO is. My co - worker and I were trying to figure out how Black Dog by Led Zepplin started, when we finally asked these two girls. They didn't just tell us, they just started singing it. I definitely got their numbers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I liked Across the Universe just for its interpretation of some of the songs how they were put in certain context. A guy was telling me that there was another movie made in the 70's or 80's with the same concept; putting a new spin on beatles songs. I think Alice Cooper and some other big names were in it. Anyone know it by chance?

Maybe for you, but not for me...
Every time I have used drugs I pretty much have just been waiting for it to be over so I can go do something productive...
True, I respect that, at least you have first hand experience.

I, too, like how Across the Universe put a spin on things. Like the song I Wanna Hold Your Hand...I always thought of that as a happy song, but when Prudence sings it and leaves her cheerleading life behind, it is a sad, ironic twist. I thought they did a great job with that movie.
