old version of 12w6 compareable to the re se?

At the local deal near my house has the old versions of 12w6 (jl audio) for only 150 each. Are they better than the re se 12's in spl?

i think the spl of the se's will be greater but as always it depends on install. The w6 and even the w6v2 are not known for their spl but more for their outstanding sq so if you want spl i wouldnt go in the w6 direction.

my friend has 3 12w6(old model) in bandpass with a ppi21400 going to the box........and the bass thats being produced is retarded.....he metered at 153.2db's......that good for 12's that not moving the amount of air the new w6v2 are moving

The SE will crush the old W6's in SPL. The SE's have a much longer throw and can take almost twice the power. These are not the only things that matter but I have owned both and there is no comparison.

I don't know about Crush. May have the addvantage as far as POTENTIAL is concerned, but it's all application dependant. The W6s may not take as much power , but they won't NEED to.

Someone has already mentioned in this thread they can get loud. I will agree with that. JL's recommended enclosure on their site will produce a great street pounder and will also provide some awesome SQL.

Is this going to be something you will be competing with? Are you even going to have it metered? THe SPL game is a whole different world compared to car audio.

I'm just tired of jl audios cause all my friends have it. I used to have the old 12 w6 but the were old so i sold it. I dont mind paying the extra cash for re se, but i'm not going to build a new box for the se either. The w6 sounded really good in this basic box you buy at the swapmeet. Will the se at least sound as good or better (spl)?
