Old School Punch Amps

Can somebody please explain the greatness of these amps.....I am purchasing one p3 15'' sub and i was looking at these but idk what true ratings are...I've always wanted and old school rf amp....and difference between hd models like

I really don't know what this thing will do. It's rated for 37.5 watts rms x2 @ 4 ohms, but I've heard people say it'll over over 600 watts @ 1 ohm bridged.
